Ocean Rush Gets Polka Dots!

Hello readers! Please check out what I've added to the blogsale tab!! I guess it's spring cleaning time for my stash because I'm having fun going through my polishes!!

I had an amazing polish come in the mail yesterday! It was one of the new Layla Holos- Ocean Rush! After seeing swatches of the collection, this was my favorite base color so I ordered it off of ebay last week.

How gorgeous is this!? The holo is very noticeable and this was WITH top coat! So nice to have a good holo that doesn't dull with top coat! I didn't use a base coat, however, because I was scared of dragging since I don't have the Aqua Base or anything similar.

This is 3 coats with top coat :) [This photo is more color accurate than the one below]

And, because I can't leave anything by itself for too long, here is where I added one coat of Nubar Black Polka Dot. I really like how it looks with just that little addition.

What do you think? This is a really gorgeous blue even out of the sun and I'm so glad it's the one I picked! Do you have any of the Layla holos? I've heard they should eventually be at Ulta stores if you want to wait and see them in person! Thanks for reading!

"But We Can Have Lots Of Good Fun That Is Funny!"

Hello readers! I have a fun post for you today. I recently came across another indie nail polish maker, Whimsical Ideas By Pam, through her Facebook page. She just made a polish called "Seuss" and as soon as it was available, I couldn't wait to get my hands on a bottle! As you can probably tell from my other book art posts, I am a HUGE fan of children's books and Dr Seuss is no exception. Some of his books are in our top favorites!

I knew the colors were a perfect match for The Cat In The Hat so there was no way I could wear it without adding in something for the book. Hope you like:

In direct sunlight

Look how cute the bottle is?! I love it! That's our olddddd Cat in the Hat book from when my husband was a little kid :)

I used:
Base coat of Orly Nail Defense
3 coats of WIBP Seuss
1 coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast

Accent nail:
Zoya Phoebe
OPI Alpine Snow
Wet n Wild Ink Well
Zoya Posh
Cult Nails Wicked Fast

What do you think?? This blue jelly is PACKED with different sized red, silver, and blue glitters. I did 3 coats to get rid of noticeable visible nail line(VNL). If it was layered over a similar color like Zoya Phoebe,  you could definitely get away with one or 2 coats and have enough glitter on the nail. It was a nice surprise that I wasn't digging around for the bigger glitters. Also, no need for Gelous to make this smooth. One coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast tamed any sharp glitter corners.

If you'd like to get your hands on this polish, go check out Pam's Facebook Page and email her for a polish order!

Ozotic 513 + Stamping!

Hello readers! I'm taking another little break from the challenge because I recieved my Llarowe order on Saturday of Ozotic 513 and a-england St. George! I really wanted to try them out! I picked Ozotic 513 first and wore it alone on Sunday for our family day outside and walking along the beach while the sun was out. IT IS GORGEOUS! Today, I decided to add a little to it. :)

Here is Ozotic 513 by itself. I honestly can see even more crazy wild holo-ness in person than my camera can capture. I am really loving this polish!

Here is a picture of where I added a stamp using Pure Ice Silver Mercedes and dots with a-england St. George!
I used:
Base coat of Orly Nail Defense
3 coats of Ozotic 513
Pure Ice Silver Mercedes and MASH plate m64 for the stamp image
a-england St. George for the dots
Cult Nails Wicked Fast

What do you think? I think I need to get my hands on a silver holo that is able to stamp. I think I'd have loved it even more if the silver was holo. :)

Day 7: Your Child's Room Decoration Nail Art

I have to share my exciting news! Yesterday was my lucky day!! I was the winner in the Berry Polished berry inspired nail art contest! I entered my Strawberry Shortcake nails and won first place!! The prize I won was Lynnderella Snow Angel!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, I was one of Traci's winners in her 3000 Follower Giveaway last night! Guess what I won?! Another Lynnderella!! Boy Girl Party!! How awesome is that!? 2 Lynns in 1 day! They will be my first ones and I couldn't be more thrilled!!

Once again I am going to remind you to check out my Blog Sale tab! I have some awesome polishes still available!! :)

Day 7: Your Child's Room Decoration Nail Art

I am officially half way through the challenge! This was a fun day and I've been wanting to do nails inspired by Hailey's canvases that hang in her room for a while now! It took a while, freehanding most of it, but I do really like how they turned out and I'm wearing these nails for the weekend!

There were 5 different designs on the canvas so I did one on each nail! They are a new take on "skittle nails" I think. And pretty spring colors!! :)

I used:
Base Coat of Orly Nail Defense

Thumb: 2 coats of China Glaze Starboard
Index: 2 coats of OPI Alpine Snow with Orly Lemonade sponged on
Middle: 2 coats of Color Club Twiggy
Ring: 2 coats of OPI Feelin Hot Hot Hot!
Pinky: 2 coats of OPI Alpine Snow with Essie Coat Azure sponged on

Other colors used for details not listed above:
Essie French Affair
Ulta Fuchsiamania
China Glaze Fairy Dust
Pure Ice Silver Mercedes

Ring Finger is Bundle Monster Plate BM-201 with Sally Hansen White On

1 coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast Top Coat on all nails.

What do you think? I am totally in love with the look of the base color on the pinky. I need to do that more often with colors! I also was really happy that there was a stamping image of those swirls from the canvas! How lucky of a coincidence? Thanks for reading! Hope you all have a great weekend!!

Challenge Day 6: Play-Doh Nails!

Hello readers! Hope you've had the chance to check out my new additions to my blogsale! There is a tab at the top for easy access!

Time for Day 6 of the challenge day: Child's Favorite Toy Nail Art.

To be honest, I had a hard time trying to figure out what Hailey's favorite toy was yesterday. Then, it dawned on me that it wasn't a doll or stuffed animal, but Play-Doh! She will sit and play for hours on end. So I have some silly nails for you today with Play-Doh on them. She really liked them when she woke up this morning and I showed them to her.

I did a base color of Zoya Skylar because I've really been wanting to try it out. Turns out I love it!!

I used:
Base coat of Cult Nails Get It On
2 coats of Zoya Skylar
Color Club Almost Famous for the yellow tubs
Lid covers: Color Clubs Twiggy, Warhol, Puccilicious, and Wham! Pow!
Zoya Posh and OPI Alpine Snow for the Play-Doh Label
Top coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast

Here is a silly pic I took of Hailey recently while she was playing with her Play-Doh. "Hurry up and take the picture so I can get back to playing" smile lol

Challenge Day 5: Zoya Yara!

Good morning, readers! I am back to the child nail art challenge and am on day 5. Today's challenge is "The Color of Your Child's Eyes." This was a bit hard for me because Hailey's eyes are hazel but look dark unless in full light or a flash photo. I had to take a new picture last night to make sure I picked something as close as I could to her eyes. Here eyes are greenish with the golden tones toward the pupil. I decided to go with Zoya Yara as it's green with gold flecks in it. It's certainly not exact to her eye color but I think it serves today's purpose. Not to mention how gorgeous the color is!!

Hailey's flash eye picture :)

Zoya Yara

I used:
Base coat of Cult Nails Get it On
2 coats of Zoya Yara
1 coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast

What do you think of Yara? It's such a gorgeous color! It can almost be a one coater but I had a bit of streakiness that a 2nd coat evened out.

If you forgot, this is the challenge I am participating in:

Deborah Lippmann Mermaid's Dream!

Hello readers! I got this amazingly gorgeous polish in the mail last week and can't believe I waited this long to make time to put it on! It's absolutely stunning in person, and if I were making a "Favorites of 2012" list, this would be on it! It seems to glow from within and I really just can't stop staring at my nails!

Unfortunately, during full noon sun, it seems this was shined out a bit and looks better in person than in my pictures. Also it seems the sun went through my top coat layers to focus on the texture of the polish UNDER the top coats to make it look bumpy! I did a coat of Gelous and 2 coats of Cult Nails Wicked Fast so it is almost completely smooth to the touch. I can now understand why every swatch of this color I saw on blogs looked like there was no top coat before I bought it.

This is 3 coats, with 1 coat of Gelous and 2 coats of Cult Nails Wicked Fast.

It's a gorgeous seafoam green with little blue glitters with micro gold glitters as well. I'm not usually a fan of such light colors but I am seriously in awe of this one. Well done, Deborah Lippmann! I think this is my favorite DL that I own as well!

What do you think? Are you a fan? Do you have this polish or is it on your wishlist? Please don't forget to check out my blogsale tab! I still have about half of the polishes available for purchase!! Thanks for reading!

Wow, two days of posts back to back? Feeling productive over here I suppose! I have another fun kid nail art challenge for today!

Day 4: Favorite Children's Movie Nail Art

Since I did How To Train You Dragon on the 31 Day Challenge, I asked Hailey to go through her dvds and help me pick another kids movie to do. We both decided that Horton Hears A Who would be cute! I was googling and couldn't find other Horton nails so this may be a first!

Day 3: She's Very Sweet, Strawberry Shortcake...

Hello readers! It's time for Day 3 of the childrens nail art challenge! I've decided that there are days that I need to take off from nail art and do family time things so I will still be doing this 14 day challenge, but at my own pace.

Day 3: Favorite Children's Show Nail Art

One of Hailey's favorite tv shows is the new Strawberry Shortcake! Definitely cute colors and patterns for a nail design, so here's my go at it!

Day 2: Rainbow Fish Nails!

Good morning! I am excited for Day 2 of this Challenge. It is Favorite Children's Book Nail Art. Since I recently did The Very Hungry Caterpillar nails, I had to go through Hailey's books to find another that would make cute nails. The Rainbow Fish won, especially after some googling came up with this post from Spektor's Nails.

Get ready for a zillion pictures lol:

It's incredibly hard to get a picture of everynail!

Please click on these to see them bigger:

I used: my biggest dotting tool and these colors to make overlapping dots into "scales" :
 Zoya Phoebe
 Zoya Savita
 China Glaze Traffic Jam
 Essence Chuck
 Sally Hansen Going Green
 Nubar Star Sparkle

For my thumb, I used OPI Alpine Snow and Wet n Wild Ink Well for the eye. The lips are Orly Lemonade

What do you think? The most time consuming part of this mani was the cleanup since the dots overlapped onto my finger skin. Zoya Phoebe even stained some of my fingers. But overall, I am in love with this mani!

Don't forget this the challenge I'm participating in. Please join in! Thanks for reading!

Also, a side note, I added some polishes to my Blogsale tab! Please check them out!!

New 14 Day Challenge! Day 1

Hello readers! My friend Casandra at The Mani-louges came up with a fun 14 day nail art challenge and I'm joining in! It's based off of when you were a kid or you kids now if you are a parent! And 14 days straight is a lot easier to keep up with than a 30 day challenge.

Today is Day 1: Color That Reminds You Of Your Child

My daughter, Hailey, will be 4 in a couple of months and she will tell ANYONE that asks that her favorite color is purple. I knew that I had to pick one of my zillion purples for today's challenge and decided to try out my new Zoya Dannii that arrived yesterday from bloom.com! It's a girly and shimmery purple and I think it definitely reminds me of Hailey.

I had another break yesterday, so short nails will be around for a while!

I used:
Base Coat of Cult Nails Get It On
2 coats of Zoya Dannii
Top coat of Zoya Wicked Fast

As you can see, I had great coverage with only 2 coats needed! I just love the shimmer in this polish, like teeny silver flecks or something?

Since this is a post with something that reminds me of Hailey, I wanted to share her latest picture! Last night she sat at the kitchen table(with a placemat to protect the table!) and painted skittle nails on her own. This is her picture when she came to show them to me! :)

Think you want to join in on the new challege? Here is the image listing the 14 days of challenges! Please click to enlarge and read better!

What do you think of Zoya Dannii or the new challenge? Thanks for reading!

St. Patrick's Day Nails!

Hello readers! I am really loving these nails and just had to get on and share them as soon as I took pictures! There is a St. Patrick's Day nail design contest on Facebook so this is what I came up with for my entry! I saw something very similar done by Laurie at Dressed Up Digits here and I knew I wanted to try it out!

First of all, I need to tell you how amazingly beautiful Zoya Ivanka is. I am so sad that the gorgeous gold glass flecks don't show in my sun pictures. Indoors, it is such an amazing color. This has made me realize that Zoya Charla, Mimi, and Ivanka are in the top favorite polishes in my entire stash. Glass flecks are apparently my weakness. Way to go, Zoya!

Ivanka is even more green than these pictures are showing. Imagine a much golder tint to it. I could only adjust my photo temperature so much before I had orange fingers, so just take my word for it.

I used:
Base coat of Cult Nails Get It On
3 coats of Zoya Ivanka

Rainbow stripes with a striper and these polishes:
 Zoya Posh
 OPI In My Back Pocket
 Orly Lemonade
 Ulta Limelight
 Zoya Phoebe
 Zoya Savita

China Glaze Passion and a dotter for the clover

Wet n Wild Ink Well and a striper for the pot of gold
Gold buillon beads for the "gold coins"

2 coats of Cult Nails Wicked Fast

What do you think? I'm hoping to leave this mani on as long as I can. It's just too cute! Thanks for reading!

On Monday, He Ate Through One Apple...

Hello readers! Hope you've all had an amazing weekend! We did on my end! On Friday we took a spontaneous day trip up to Charleston to go to the aquarium and had a yummy dinner downtown! We decided to check out the tiny Savannah aquarium here on Saturday with some good friends and then went to Outback for lunch. Today has pretty much been a lazy Sunday and I'm loving it!

I decided to take some of that free lazy time today and use it to finally make my entry into the Chalkboard Nails dotting tool nail art contest! You can still enter your manis until tomorrow night, go check it out!

The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a HUGE favorite in our house and I've been wanting to do nails inspired by it for a long time. I did this entirely with dotting tools! Hailey was so excited when she woke up from her nap and saw my nails!

I used:
Base coat of Orly Nail Armor
3 coats of OPI Alpine Snow
1 coat of CND Gold Sparkling Effect
CND Just Red for the apple, head, and hair
China Glaze Starboard for the body and eyes
China Glaze Secret Peri-wink-le for the antennae and hair
Orly Lemonade for the eye outline
OPI Wooden Shoe Like To Know? for the feet and apple stem
1 coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast

Large dotting tool for the head, body bumps, and apple
Tiny dotting tool for the feet and apple stem
Small dotting tool for the apple bite, eyes, nose, and antennae
Sewing pin for the hair

What do you think? I am loving how they turned out and am happy I can finally mark this off of my "nail art to do list." Thanks for reading!

I Lie For...Only You

Hello readers! I've been having some computer troubles lately so I may not get posts up that often. I was happy I had it working well enough to write this post for you!

I have a fun polish to show you, today! My friend Cassandra started making her own polishes recently, FEVERlacquer, and I have one of her limited edition polishes for you today! Unfortunately, you can't buy this one anymore as the stock was limited and has since been sold out. I actually shattered my original bottle of this and Cassandra was so sweet and mailed me a surprise replacement bottle so now there really aren't any more bottles available! How awesome is she??

Anyway, on to the polish! This is called I Lie For...Only You and it's a gorgeous blue jelly polish packed with tiny holo shimmers and some black hexagon glitters throughout. This is 3 coats, as it is a jelly, and I wanted to get it fairly opaque. I just love jelly polishes that have glitters, it's like a built in jelly sandwich!

This is purposely out of focus to really show you some of that gorgeous holo shimmer!

The black glitters weren't too difficult to get out, I like to turn my bottles upside down for a few minutes before I paint my nails and that brings a lot of larger glitters down for you to have easy access. This applied amazingly and dried SO fast for a jelly, I was impressed! And hardly any cleanup was needed. Just a lovely polish!

As I said before, you can't get this polish anymore, but she is almost ready to release 2 new polishes that have flakies!! Check out the FEVERlacquer Facebook page here for recent updates on how you can get her new polishes! Tell her I sent you!

Thanks for reading!
