Pond Pumpkins Halloween Nail Art!

Good morning, readers! It's the last week of Halloween manis so it's crunch time to fit in the last few nail art ideas before the holiday is over. I was trying to think of fun and new manis all weekend and am pretty proud of this one so I had to post it right away!

If you remember my original "pond mani" and tutorial, you realize how easy this really can be and yet it has depth and looks amazing! As I said in my previous post, I didn't come up with the idea for the pond mani, but think it stems back to this post by Olive View Fashion. The basic idea is to layer simple designs and jelly polish so you can see the different layers all melding together.

This pumpkin art is just as simple as the hearts in the original design. I'm using a medium sized dotting tool and a detail brush with white polish. The pumpkin shapes were inspired by this adorable design by The Lacquerologist!  You just made two dots touching in the middle, and a simple line coming out of the top with the detail brush. I can do this design for Tutorial Tuesday if that's hard to picture? Comment below to let me know!

The base and jelly layers are OPI Ya'll Come Back Ya Hear? from the Texas collection (some of the best jelly polishes I own are from that collection!) and its a really awesome orange jelly polish. It's more opaque than the China Glaze Keepin' It Teal I used in the Pond Hearts mani, so I didn't have to do as  many layers!

I think I did a total of three layers of pumpkins, with OPI Ya'll Come Back Ya Hear? as the first layer, layers in between the pumpkins, and final layer. Before the final orange jelly layer, I used my detail brush and did some quick Jack O' Lantern faces on a few pumpkins to make it more Halloween appropriate and fun!

You can see the depth of the different layers of pumpkins in this close up!

What do you think? Pond Manis are quickly becoming one of my favorite techniques and I can see myself doing a lot in the future!

Comment below if you want a tutorial tomorrow, I won't bother if you all get it after seeing my last Pond Hearts Tutorial Tuesday post! Thanks for reading!

  1. Oh, this is wonderful. I was looking for a mani to do for this week and I want a Halloween theme. This is so cute. I really love your pond manicures and I am going to have to try this technique. I was wanting to use my stamping plates for my Halloween themed mani, but maybe I can do this pond layering too.
