OPI Releases New Limited Edition
Major League Baseball™-Inspired Nail Lacquers

Relationship with MLB Marks First-Ever Professional Sports League Licensing Agreement for OPI

OPI announces the launch of seven new limited edition nail lacquers inspired by Major League Baseball (MLB), marking the first-ever professional sports league licensing agreement for the company. Featuring a range of red, orange, blue and white hues, MLB Collection by OPI shades are ideal to mix, match and wear while fans cheer on their favorite MLB team.
“Enjoying a baseball game is one of America’s most celebrated pastimes,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Co-Founder & Executive VP.  “For many years, men dominated the stands, but today, more and more women can be found in the crowds. Baseball boasts a lot of female fans looking to demonstrate their love of the game through fashion – from trendy, feminine sports apparel to themed accessories. Now, women can wear the limited edition MLB Collection nail lacquers to show support from head (and fingers) to toe!”
“Major League Baseball understands the importance of female fans in the growth and success of our sport, and so we continuously seek new opportunities to diversify our portfolio of licensed offerings to target this extensive fan base,” said Howard Smith, Senior Vice President, Licensing, Major League Baseball.  “We are beyond thrilled to partner with OPI, a premium brand in a unique category of business, to launch this new line of exclusive nail polish, giving fans yet another colorful way to show off their team pride at the start of the 2014 baseball season.”

  1. I hate to say it but lately I'm so bored by what OPI is putting out. I just want to write them a letter and say "Give me something interesting!" :-/

  3. If this is supposed to cover all the baseball teams, it is sorely lacking. 2 reds, 3 blues in one small collection? Big letdown :(

  4. For funsies, a quick rundown of teams by how relevant this line is to them:

Can use THREE colours from this collection:
    Boston Red Sox
    Cleveland Indians
    Detroit Tigers
    Minnesota Twins
    Houston Astros
    LA Angels
Atlanta Braves (although the red is a stretch)
    Washington Nationals
    St. Louis Cardinals

Can use TWO colours from this collection:
    Baltimore Orioles
    New York Yankees
    Tampa Bay Rays
Seattle Mariners (second alternate uniform; otherwise, only 1 polish)
    Texas Rangers
    New York Mets
    Philadelphia Phillies
    Chicago Cubs
    Cincinnati Reds
    Milwaukee Brewers
    Arizona Diamondbacks
    San Diego Padres

Can use ONE colour from this collection:
Toronto Blue Jays (technically two, but navy is a footnote colour for the Jays)
    Chicago White Sox
    Kansas City Royals
    Oakland Athletics
Miami Marlins (and they have six team colours!)
    Pittsburgh Pirates
    Colorado Rockies
    LA Dodgers
    San Francisco Giants

Disappointing, especially considering most of the teams that can only make use of one colour have white in their uniform, and the white looks pretty shimmery. Am I the only one that would prefer cremes over shimmers, since the uniforms aren't shimmery? I'm big on colour accuracy, personally.

I went by the official team colours as stated by good ol' Wiki, so there could be inaccuracies. Either way, not impressed with this collection- and, after reviewing all these, not impressed with most MLB teams' colours, either! I love Americana as much as the next naturalized citizen, but really? HALF the teams use red, white, and blue?
