Swatch Sunday: Zoya Naturel Satins Collection!

Press Sample

Good morning, readers! I have an exciting new swatch post for you this morning! Zoya just released the new Naturel Satins Collection and I have them for you today! Everyone was waiting to see what this new finish would look like on these neutral cremes as soon as the press release was out. Well, they are here so let's take a look!

The satin finish is different than I was expecting. It's not shiny, but also not matte. After posting a macro comparison (which I'll add at the end of this post), I asked on Instagram and Facebook how to describe the finish. I had a lot of responses like "mottled, eggshell, concrete, bedroom wall texture, vinyl, rubber, grainy, and finely pebbled leather." Thank you all for your input! It is definitely an odd-to-describe polish finish. Zoya is calling them, "ultra-wearable, low-sheen, chic satin finish," and I can't disagree with that.

As with any special finish polish, I recommend letting the first coat dry completely before adding the second so you can see the special texture/finish. They dry pretty quickly, though, so don't be worried that you will have to wait as long as with the Pixie Dusts before you can add the second coat.

Most were fine with 2 coats, but 3 thin coats could be needed if you apply less generous coats than I do. Of course I didn't add top coat to these so you can see their natural satin finish.

Zoya Rowan
Creamy suede taupe with the exclusive Zoya Satin finish.
I'm showing two coats below without top coat.

Zoya Leah
Lavender tinged taupe with the exclusive Zoya Satin finish.
I'm showing two coats below without top coat.

Zoya Brittany
Rose mauve creme with the exclusive Zoya Satin finish.
I'm showing two coats below without top coat.

Zoya Ana
Light toasted almond with the exclusive Zoya Satin finish.
I'm showing three coats below without top coat.

Zoya Tove
Misty slate grey with the exclusive Zoya Satin finish.
I'm showing two coats below without top coat.

Zoya Sage
Mossy sage green with the exclusive Zoya Satin finish.
I'm showing two coats below without top coat.

The low-sheen finish of these Zoya Naturel Satins is somewhere between shiny and matte. Below, you can see where I've swiped one coat of shiny top coat on the left 1/3 of the nail, one coat of matte top coat on the right 1/3 of the nail, and left the middle as the natural Satin finish. I hope this is more helpful to see the finish than my full hand photos above.

There you have them! What are your thoughts on this new collection? How about the new Satin finish? Which are your favorites? I really like this entire collection! My favorites are Rowan, Leah, and Tove but I know I'll be wearing them all! Neutrals are so great to have in a collection and you can add any kind of topcoat if you aren't a fan of the satin finish as well.

These are available now! Thanks so much for reading! Have a fabulous Sunday.

  1. These are all really pretty! I like that the finish is in the middle of glossy and matte. Looks like I'll be picking all of these up haha (:

  2. Nice swatches, these neutrals look great on you! I can never resist trashing 'satin' type finishes by adding topcoat, so your three way comparison was really helpful. I'll probably pass on these myself, but I bet they're going to be VERY popular!

  7. Love the comparison you did showing the different finishes. Major help when it comes to a brand's take on a type of finish, so thank you for that!
Really enjoy how these have a spring-ish feel, but are muted enough to be transitional as well.
Can't help but think of sea glass when looking at these.

  8. That last picture is telling. They should have named them "Naugahyde" not Satin finish

  9. I really love Ana but I don't know how it will go on my skin tone. Is it a similar shade to OPI my vampire is buff?
