Swirl Nail Art With OPI Nordic Collection!

Press Sample

Good morning, readers! I have another nail art look using the new OPI Nordic Collection polishes to show you today! It's actually the mani I'm currently wearing and I love it so much! There are 12 polishes in the new OPI Nordic Collection, so the nail art possibilities are endless! I've used three shades for today's nail art: How Great Is Your Dane?, Suzi Has A Swede Tooth, and My Dogsled Is A Hybrid.

Dot Nail Art with Zoya Naturel Deux!

Press Sample

Are you ready to see some fall colors yet? I received the new Zoya Naturel Deux (2) Collection last weekend and will have the swatches posted at the end of the week. In the meantime, here is a fun dotticure I did using all 6 shades! I really liked how the whole collection fit together and these random overlapping dots showcase them as a whole.

The Lacquer Legion, Fandom: The Pandorica Opens

Good morning!! I am so excited to be participating in this month's Lacquer Legion nail art prompt! #LLFandom is right up my nail art alley, and of course I had to go with another Doctor Who themed mani! This time, I extended my "exploding TARDIS" design a bit more: I've included part of The Pandorica Opens (exploding TARDIS) painting, The Pandorica, and the crack. They all are connected in the part 2 finale of Doctor Who, Season 5 so why not put them all together?

Barielle Hand/Nail Care Product Review!

Press Sample

Let's talk hand and nail care for a minute! We all love having pretty polished nails, but we can't forget to take care of those hands and nails to keep them healthy. Moisturizing is my biggest tip as a fellow nail polish lover! When I was accepted to the blogger program with Barielle, I asked if I could review some hand care items and not just nail polish. For me, it's so important to take care of your nails and hands and not just cover them up. So here is a review of the three nail/hand care products I wanted to try out for you: 60 Second Mani-Pedi, Nail Strengthener Cream, and Intensive Hand Treatment Cream.

Pahlish Sarey's Berry + Butterfly Wing Nail Art!

Good morning! If you are a new-comer to the Pahlish buying life, as I am, you may not have heard of Bespoke Batches. Basically, they are limited edition and one-time-sale polishes. This is due to ingredients not being available anymore, or the cost being too high to produce as core colors. So today, I show you my very first Bespoke Batch polish: Pahlish Sarey's Berry.  It is a gorgeous bright purple/fuchsia jelly with a mix of soft white, violet, and blue flakes. AKA: AMAZING! This just made it's way into my top polishes for sure. I can't tell you enough good things about this polish, aside from the fact that I'm sad you can't all get it anymore. It is one that I think every polish lover needs in their collection.

Of course I wanted to do some nail art with Sarey's Berry, but didn't want to cover up too much of the beauty of it. So, I used my own Butterfly Wing Nail Art Tutorial and added the wing designs to accentuate the base color.

OPI Nordic Skittlette!

Press Sample

Good morning, readers! I dropped the ball yesterday, it was Adventures In Acetone's 3rd Blogiversary! It occurred to me when I got into bed last night, I guess I should be better about it next year and celebrate or something!

Anyway, I wanted to show you a simple skittlette manicure I wore this weekend for my son, Owen's, 2nd birthday celebration! I used three of the new OPI Nordic Collection polishes and I think they paired nicely together!

Distressed Nail Art with OPI Nordic Collection!

Press Sample

Good morning! I received the OPI Nordic Collection last week and today I'm showing you a nail art look I wore using 5 of the new colors! I used the Distressed Nail Art Tutorial by Chalkboard Nails and this one has a much more autumn feel than the last one I tried! I'm not sure if I am ready to wear fall colors yet, but I love that there are some pops of brighter color in with the neutrals.

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Countries and Cultures, Day 5: Asgard.

It's time for my final nail art look for Countries & Cultures Week with The Digit-al Dozen! The final mani is also of a fictional land, this time it's Asgard from Thor! Asgard is very detailed so I went with a simplistic recreation of the Bifröst bridge reaching to the palace.

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Countries and Cultures, Day 4: Mordor, Middle Earth.

One does not simply paint Mordor on her nails. Just kidding! That's exactly what I did for Day 4 of Countries & Cultures Week with The Digit-al Dozen! I'm sure you can see the growing trend this week of how I would rather paint fictional "countries/lands" than real ones, and Middle Earth deserves more than just the Day 1 slot! I've recreated Barad-dûr (with The Eye of Sauron) and Mount Doom, complete with glowing orange for The Eye and the lava flow.

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Countries and Cultures, Day 3: Wonderland!

Good afternoon! It's Day 3 of Countries & Cultures Week with The Digit-al Dozen! Of course I was inspired by a fictional land again, this time it's Wonderland! I chose to recreate the talking flower garden from the original Alice In Wonderland cartoon movie, and now I have the "All In The Golden Afternoon" song stuck in my head!

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Countries and Cultures, Day 2: The Emerald City, Oz.

Good morning! It's Day 2 of Countries & Cultures Week with The Digit-al Dozen and I have another fictional land for you: The Emerald City in The Wizard Of Oz! It's such a big moment in the movie when Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion finally lay eyes on the grand city of green in the distance. I've recreated the scene after they get out of the poppy fields to follow the rest of the way down the yellow brick road!

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Countries and Cultures, Day 1: The Shire, Middle Earth.

It's time for another nail art week with The Digit-al Dozen! This month's theme is Countries and Cultures, and I'm working on them each morning so I have no idea how this week will go. For today's post, I was inspired by the fictional "country" called The Shire found in Middle Earth (from The Lord Of The Rings/The Hobbit). The Shire is where the Hobbits live in their little Hobbit-hole homes built into the hills. This is my interpretation of a Hobbit home, complete with fuzzy flocking powder grass!

DIY Dupe: Elevation Polish Angels Are The Yetis Of The Clouds!

Good morning, readers! I have exciting news to share with you! I've done some comparisons and layering experiments and I've figured out a DIY dupe for recreating a similar look to the very limited edition Elevation Polish Angels Are The Yetis Of The Clouds!! I know it's not the same as owning this gorgeous polish, but its a bit of a consolation prize if you can create a close enough look, right? Continue reading to see how I did it, and how it compared to some other polishes in my stash!

Swatch Saturday: Barielle Brilliant Colors Collection!

Press Sample

Good afternoon! I hope you are all enjoying your weekend so far! It's been busier than expected over here, so that's why this post is so late in the day. When Barielle asked me to join their blogging team, I was able to pick some things to try out and review for you guys. I'll have some more posts in the near future, but for now I will show you the Brilliant Colors Collection! This was last year's summer collection (but of course it is still available on their site!) and I love the bright colors. There are five fun cremes, and I can't wait to use them for some nail art soon!

Nail Art Fail: OPI Neons Tribal!

Previous
Press Sample

I didn't have time to change my nails for today, so I looked through my archive of un-posted manis and came across this one. I had such high hopes for using all of the new OPI Neons in a tribal print, but when I left out black, it didn't pop as I'd hoped. I won't make that mistake again.

Elevation Polish Dotticure!

Hey there! I broke a nail yesterday while rearranging some furniture so it was time for a big chop on all of my nails. So short, I couldn't even round them as much as usual, so I guess for now I'm sporting some "squoval" nails. After seeing this guest post on One Nail To Rule Them All from Lucy's Stash, I decided that dotticure style would look awesome on my new shorties! I recreated it with three Elevation Polishes: Atop A Ferris Wheel, Mount Agepsta, and Pic Du Gar.

Patriotic Galaxy Nail Art!

Happy Fourth Of July to my US readers! For the past few days, I was struggling with some kind of red, white, and blue nail art to wear this weekend. To be honest, I just don't think the three colors look that pretty together. (Please don't throw your American flags at me!) I'm just not a fan of the combination for nail art so I tried and failed to create a look I was happy with until this one. Now, I'm glad I gave it one more try before being a rebel and just wearing bright purple or something.

Bright Coral Comparison Post!

Previous
Press Samples

Confession time: I love coral polish. Way back before I was into doing my own nails, I would almost always pick an OPI coral polish when I would go for pedicures at the salon with my Mom. Although my blog has opened me up to other color families that get most of my attention(teals and violets, I'm looking at you!), I still love wearing coral on my toes. Sure, I wear it on my finger nails, too, but nothing says summer pedi to me like a bright coral. I even have a bright coral pedi right now!

A few nail polish friends asked me to do a comparison of some of the more recent corals that I've reviewed so here is a comparison in case you can't decide which to buy. The pictures are labeled and I'm showing three coats of each polish: OPI Down To The Core-al (from the Neons Collection), KBShimmer You're So Shellfish (from the Summer Collection), OPI Toucan Do It If You Try (From the Brazil Collection), and OPI Live.Love.Carnaval. (also from the Brazil Collection.)

Funky, Tribal Half Moon Mani!

Previous
Press Sample

Good morning! Mr. Adventures In Acetone and I were walking around the mall last night (kid free!) and I came across a gorgeous shirt in one of the department stores. I wish they had it in my size, it was bright and chartreuse and I loved it! Also, I told the hubby that it would be an awesome nail polish color. Fast forward to this morning, as I'm sitting at my nail desk: I look up at the rack of OPI polishes and OMGOSH(!!) I have a polish the same color as the shirt! OPI Life Gave Me Lemons from the new Neon Collection-- I had forgotten about it because it's not a color I typically reach for to wear.

I knew I wanted to do some kind of pattern over it, and I think I may have gone a little overboard with this mani. I tried to combine half moons with tribal print, but the other colors seem to have been washed out after I added the matte top coat.

Tutorial Tuesday: Beach Ball Half Moon Nail Art!

Good afternoon! As promised, this week's tutorial is the Beach Ball Half Moons I wore last Thursday. These seem fairly simple to recreate (I was able to do them on all 10 nails) and they are perfect for a "not so typical" summer mani! The use of half moon guide stickers make this even easier than it looks.
