The Digit-al Dozen DOES Red, Gold And Green. Day 1: Half Moon Wreaths!

Good morning, readers! It's time for this month's Digit-al Dozen nail art week! The theme is Red, Gold, and Green. As you can imagine, that means I'm planning mostly Christmas themed nail art for you. So far, today's mani is my favorite of the week. I was inspired by this half moon mani wreath post that Sarah from Chalkboard Nails did 2 years ago. I still can't believe it took me this long to recreate it my own way!

Born Pretty Store Nail Art Pen Review!

Hello, readers! I have another item from Born Pretty Store to share with you today! This time, it is one of their Nail Art Pens!

They come in a box:

You can see the tip of the pen. It isn't like a squishy marker tip. It's more like a firm pen tip where the paint flows out as you draw.

The directions on the box say to shake, pump the tip on your paper or mat surface until you see the color, and then draw on your nails! Make sure your polish is completely dry or you can scratch it off with the pen. I chose to use it over the Incoco Real Nail Polish Appliques that I showed in yesterday's post.

I've been seeing so many starfish nail designs lately that I wanted to try some quick starfish with the pen. I added some dots to fill in between the starfish. The dots were so quick and easy! I missed some spots while coloring in the starfish but I think they still look cool.

The pen was quick and easy to use! What do you think? Do you have any nail art pens?

You can get this nail art pen (there are different colors as well!) and other nail art supplies from Born Pretty Store for $5.99 each here: http://www.bornprettystore.com/fast-nail-quick-drawing-paint-polish-pens-p-5268.html

Born Pretty Stud Review!

Hello, readers! I have a funky mani to share with you today. I have some fun studs from Born Pretty Store and I wanted to share some different looks I came up with using them! I've done one look on each nail instead of 4 separate photos.

This is what came in my set:
Nail glue, orange sticks to help position the studs, and 2 stud wheels.

Here is a bit more of a closeup of the wheels so you can see the different colors and shapes. There are stars, squares, circles, hearts, triangles, and more in different sizes and colors! Lots of things to choose from!

And here is my mani to show off 4 different looks using the studs! I used Illamasqua Vice (dries to a rubber finish) and Nails Inc Leather Effect in NoHo to tie in the stud look.

They were really easy to apply and laid flat on my nail with the exception of the big heart on my pinky. My nail was too round so the edges stuck off and got caught on things. The smaller shapes worked nicely!

You can get these nail studs and other nail art supplies from Born Pretty Store for $12.99 here:

Born Pretty: Pooh Bear, Angry Birds, and Hello Kitty Stamping Plate Review!

Good morning, readers! I was able to try out some of the new character stamping plates from Born Pretty Store and they are super cute! Today's post will show Winnie the Pooh, Angry Birds, and Hello Kitty stamping plates! I had a lot of fun with these plates and so did my 4 year old daughter, Hailey!

Let's start out with the Winnie the Pooh plate (Plate QA3)! I wore Milani Yellow Whiz and stamped with Wet n Wild Black Creme. The plate stamped really nicely, I was having issues with my scraper so I'm blaming that for any extra black on my nails.

I apologize for not taking a picture of the plate before I used it.

Moving on, we have the Angry Birds Plate (QA17)! Hello from my right hand! I know you hardly ever get to see it! I stamped an angry bird on each nail with a coordinating color. The colors I used were: OPI No Room for the Blues, Wet n Wild Black Creme, Milani Rapid Cherry, Milani Yellow Whiz, and Sinful Colors Happy Ending. I stamped with Wet n Wild Black Creme and Pure Ice Silver Mercedes. Again, my scraper needs to be replaced so the excess color is not fault of the stamp plate.

Lastly, we have the cute Hello Kitty plate(QA12)! This was my daughter, Hailey's(4 1/2), favorite plate. She begged me to do some hello kitty stamps on her toes so you can see those at the bottom. I used Sinful Colors Creme Pink and stamped with Konad special polish in white. I did a reverse gradient on my accent nail with Ninja Polish Love, Lace, and Lawsuits.

Teeny 4 year old Hailey toes!

What do you think of these character plates from Born Pretty Store? I love them and they stamped really nicely!

You can get these stamping plates HERE(Pooh), HERE(Angry Birds), and HERE(Hello Kitty) at the Born Pretty Store for only $2.99 each among other nail art supplies and other stamping plates.

Born Pretty Gold Bow Review!

Hello readers! I have another Born Pretty item to share with you today. This time, I've tried out a pack of new foil metal gold bow nail accents. I also recently swapped for Whimsical Ideas By Pam Peanut Butter and Jelly and this was my first time trying it out. I thought it would go cute with a gold bow accent because of the gold glitters in it. I love the polish so much! It applied very easily and the name and color combo are adorable!

I used a piece of Born Pretty gold striping tape from my previous review HERE to make it look like it was part of the same gold "ribbon" in the bow.

You can see some hidden shimmer in Peanut Butter and Jelly!

This is the pack that I got. Look at how full it is! I'll never need more again.

I used:
Duri Rejuvacote
2 coats of Whimsical Ideas By Pam Peanut Butter and Jelly
1 coat of Poshe top coat

For the accent nail:
I did the striping tape before top coat.
Then, one thick coat of top coat and added the bow so it "sank" into the wet top coat.
Follow up with another coat of Poshe to seal it in.

So, as for the bows, they are bendable so I actually bent mine a bit to lay flatter on my curved nail. They are a bit thick and would have needed a lot more top coat to smooth out if I had left them flat because of my nail shape. I'm glad I was able to mold it a bit. I'll definitely use them again, I already have a cute idea in my head for next month!

You can get these bows HERE at the Born Pretty Store among other nail art supplies and other foil nail accessories

Born Pretty Velvet Manicure Review and Tutorial!

Hello readers! I have a really fun nail art technique to show you today! It's called "velvet nails" and is done using flocking powder applied to wet nail polish for a fuzzy nail look. I can't remember where I read it when this technique started coming out, but someone said it looked like they had "sweater nails" and I totally agree! It's such an odd feeling when I run my fingers over my nails, but I kind of like it! Hailey(4 years old) was watching me do my nails and begged me to please do it to her nails, too. I think I'll do hers today!

Born Pretty Store sent me this kit to try out, and it makes it so easy to have it all in one kit!

I'm going to show you how I did it!

Supplies included in the kit: base color, polish, flocking powder, tweezers, clean up brush.

Step 1: Apply base coat to all nails and let dry.
How pretty are these bottles?! (Ignore my orange stained nails! ugh)

Step 2: Apply one coat of color and let dry.
Look at the coverage of ONE coat of this creme polish. I'm impressed!

Step 3: One nail at a time: Apply second coat of color. Make sure it is a good thickness so the flocking has time to stick before it dries. While still wet, use tweezers to cover nail with a pile of flocking powder over your surface paper. Don't be afraid to use a ton, you will be able to save the excess. Make sure you cover the entire nail!

Step 4: Using your finger, gently pat down the pile of flocking all over the nail surface so it adheres better to the wet polish.

Step 5: Using brush, gently sweep away excess flocking from the skin around the nail as well as the nail surface. Make sure you are gentle when sweeping over the nail itself. It takes 10-15 minutes for it to completely dry(just an estimate) so you don't want to "drag" any of the polish off if you are too rough.

Step 6: Repeat on the rest of your nails. No top coat! This means you need to be careful for the next 10-20 minutes to ensure that it's completely dry.

Step 7: Roll up your paper surface into a "funnel" and pour the excess flocking back into the container to use next time!

Ta-Da! I can't believe how neat this is and I'm really liking it! I've had it on for 12 hours so far and it still looks great!

FUZZY NAIL MACRO! How fun!

Before you ask, YES you can wash your hands! They look a little odd for a minute while the flocking dries but they they are just as fluffy! I'd try to avoid getting cuticle oil and lotion on the nail surface, though. I put on my lotion before bed like always and they were a little less fuzzy this morning until I washed my hands again. They are back to normal now, though!

Tell me what you think of this technique! You can find all of the Born Pretty Store flocking velvet nail sets among other nail art supplies HERE. There are a TON of different colors!

Born Pretty Matte Polish Review!

Hello readers! Football is still on at our house so I figured I'd take the opportunity to write up this post! It's been a while since I've done a Born Pretty Store review, and it's lacking on my part, not theirs. I've had these since around when Owen was born and I'm just now caught up with my review items that accumulated in the past 2.5 months.

I chose 2 of their matte polishes as well as a wheel of different colored pearls to try this time. The polishes had to be thinned with thinner for easier application but I really think I could have added more drops. Especially to the blue, that one was thick and harder to apply than the black.

I was impressed with how pretty the black was when it dried! It reminds me of the suede matte polishes out there with the added shimmer. It dried to a normal matte finish. The blue surprised me by drying to a "rubber" finish! Both took a bit longer to dry than the matte polishes I'm used to.

They don't have names, just numbers. The black is 02 and the blue is 20. You can find all of their matte polishes among other nail art supplies HERE.

I decided to use both matte polishes and some of the pearls for one look!

I used:
2 coats of matte polish black 02
3 coats of matte polish blue 20

I dabbed a drop of matte top coat on the flat side of the pearls and then stuck them to my nails. You can find these pearls here: http://www.bornprettystore.com/nail-colorful-baby-pearl-decoration-glitter-p-460.html

Born Pretty Fimo Slice Review!

Good morning readers! I have a fun post to share with you today! Have you heard of Fimo Slices or tried them before? This was my first time using them even though I've been eyeing them for a while. I got these from the Born Pretty Store and they also came with nail glue for easy application!

Step 1: Pick which fimo slice you want from the wheel. I chose a butterfly!

Step 2: Apply a drop of nail glue where you want the fimo slice to  be on your nail and hold in place while it dries. I didn't know that they would be flexible and was happy that I could "bend" it to the natural curve of my nail while it was drying!

Step 3: Enjoy!

These are such a cute addition to a plain manicure, or nail art as well! You can find these at the Born Pretty Store online among other nail art supplies HERE for under $2! Don't forget that Born Pretty ships free worldwide!

Please use my 7% off code with your order as well: JACJ61
