The Digit-al Dozen DOES Fandom, Day 5: Doctor Who!

Good morning, readers! It's time for the final post of Fandom Week with The Digit-al Dozen. I had to bring it back to my favorite fandom for nail art: Doctor Who! This is a tribute to last season with Peter Capaldi as the 12th doctor--with a nod to the episode called Flatline where to T.A.R.D.I.S. was shrinking with him inside of it. I am so anxious for the new season to start!

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Fandom, Day 3: House of Cards

Good evening, readers! I have the third mani for Fandom Week with The Digit-al Dozen to share with you tonight. I've done a lot of nail art in the past inspired by favorite books, movies, tv shows, etc, so this week is a bit harder than I expected it to be. I'm trying to branch out into things for inspiration I haven't already done before. One of the newest shows (in the past few months) that the hubby and I have binge watched on Netflix is House of Cards. This is a political drama and I am still wondering why it was able to draw me in and want to watch as many episodes in a sitting as we could. I'm more of a fantasy genre fan--give me some vampires, super heroes, witches, etc, and I will most likely love the show. I guess it just has something special about it. Today, I've recreated the logo of the show title on my nails.

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Fandom, Day 1: Divergent!

Good morning, readers! It's Fandom Week with The Digit-al Dozen and I'm so excited!! Yesterday was Day 1, but we took the boat out for a family day so you will probably get Day 1 and Day 2 today from me to make up for it. The first mani for the week is inspired by one of my favorite book and movie series: Divergent by Veronica Roth. In the futuristic, dystopian Chicago set story, the people are divided into 5  factions based on their personalities. I've recreated the symbols for each faction on my nails for this mani!

Stone Nail Art with Elevation Polish Grand Teton Sunset

Good morning, readers! I have a fun mani to share with you that I wore last week. @Stylish_mom on Instagram posted a tutorial for "Stone Nail Design" using acrylic paint and silver flakes and I just had to try it right away! I've been wanting to try the watercolor technique with acrylic paint ever since I bought some but haven't gotten around to it until now. My base color is Elevation Polish Grand Teton Sunset so I'm not sure how much this looks like a stone in real life--but I sure loved wearing it.

Winstonia Third Generation Stamping Image Plate Set Review!

Press Sample

Good afternoon, readers! It's been quiet around here on Adventures In Acetone lately, have you noticed? School is out for the summer AND my little Owen (almost 3 years old) has had a stomach bug for a few days. However, he is feeling a little better today so I have some time to share the newest set of stamping plates from Winstonia. There are 20 plates and most of them are full plate designs where there aren't spaces between the images. Let's take a closer look below at each plate, plus a couple of manis I've worn since the plates arrived at my house.

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Geometric, Day 3: Tri-Arrow Tessellation Nail Art

Press Sample

Good morning, readers! It's Day 3 of Geometric Week with The Digit-al Dozen and I have some nail art that will send you right back to math class. These ti-arrow tessellation nails were easily created using a stamping plate from the Winstonia Third Generation Stamp Plate Set. I'll be sharing a full review of the set with you in the near future but this is my first time trying any images and it was a huge success! Let's take a look.

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Geometric, Day 1: Quatrefoil Gradient

Good morning, readers! It's Monday, but I have good news! It's Digit-al Dozen Week and the theme is Geometric. I'm still trying to brainstorm ideas for the week, but I suspect we will see lots of shapes, patterns, and lines from most of us this week. Today's mani is what I've been wearing all weekend and I really love the color combo of the bright creme gradient over the darker shimmer quatrefoil pattern.

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Childhood, Day 4: Sandcastles!

Good morning, readers! It's time for my fourth Childhood Week mani with The Digit-al Dozen. Who didn't love making sandcastles at the beach (or in a sandbox) as a kid? I grew up on the east coast of Florida so beach days were often and a fun memory of mine. We recently moved back here so my own kids are getting into building sandcastles now as well! Zoya Godiva Pixie Dust was a fun additional layer over the sandy parts of this mani, giving it a sandy texture and extra sparkle.

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Childhood, Day 3: LEGOS!

Good afternoon, readers! Today is the third day of Childhood Week with The Digit-al Dozen. I have already covered a favorite tv show and a favorite book, so today I'm sharing a favorite toy: LEGOS! Who hasn't played with these before? My kids love them and I enjoy playing with them now almost as much as I did as a kid. For this mani, I've just done classic LEGO things: loose LEGOS (don't step on those!), a LEGO character, the LEGO logo, and stacked LEGOS.

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Childhood, Day 1: Power Rangers!

Good morning, readers! It's time for this month's Digit-al Dozen nail art week! The theme is Childhood and I can't wait to see the versatile manis from the group this week. This is such a fun theme and it can go so many different ways--from things reminding us of our own childhoods, things that remind us of our own children, things that are just child-like in general, etc.

My first mani is inspired by a tv show that has been around for YEARS, with many different series themes. It's the Power Rangers! It debuted in 1993 and you can find 20+ seasons on Netflix today. My kids, Hailey (6.5) and Owen (2.5) are obsessed with them. They pick Power Rangers more often than any other show during their tv time--and their favorite series is Power Rangers Samurai.

I've recreated the 5 main Samurai Power Ranger helmets on my nails for today's look.

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Patterns On Patterns, Day 5: Chevrons and Cheetah Print with Elevation Polish!

Good afternoon, readers! TGIF! It's the final day of Patterns on Patterns Week with The Digit-al Dozen and I am really enjoying my final design! I used three shimmery Elevation Polishes, some chevron nail vinyls from KBShimmer, and a dotting tool to create freehand cheetah spots.

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Patterns On Patterns, Day 4: Stripes, Dots, and Roses!

Good morning, readers! This Patterns on Patterns Week is really kicking my creative butt. I am torn at what to combine and it's proving to be difficult. However, I was scrolling through Facebook yesterday and Paulina's Passions posted the most perfect "pattern on pattern" idea WITH a tutorial and I desperately had to recreate it for today. So a huge thank you goes out to Paulina for saving the day!! Her original design had pink roses so I tried purple as to not be a complete copycat the day after she posted. Let's take a look!

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Patterns On Patterns, Day 1: Beehive Nails

Good evening, readers! It's the start of a new nail art week with The Digit-al Dozen. This month's theme is Patterns On Patterns and it's certainly a challenging concept. I'm starting out the week with a subtle stamped honeycomb pattern topped with simple bees arranged like polka dots. I've used one of the new OPI Hawaii Collection polishes as my base because they all arrived on my doorstep this morning and I couldn't wait to try them out!

KBShimmer Spring 2015 Nail Vinyls Review!

Press Sample

Good afternoon, readers! I have the third and final new sheet of nail vinyls that released TODAY by KBShimmer. Take a look ay my previous reviews of the new colors, swirl vinyls, and thick/thin connected lines if you missed any of them this week.

This nail vinyl sheet is full of Spring/Easter designs for loads of options when it comes to usage and manis. I've used most of the different designs in these 2 "skittle" manis to show you some options and ideas of how you could use the different designs. I have some favorites and I know I'll be taking single nail ideas and putting them into a full mani the next time I use them. Let's take a look!

KBShimmer Thick/Thin Connected Lines Nail Vinyl Review!

Press Sample

Good morning, readers! Yesterday, I showed you one set of new KBShimmer Spring 2015 nail vinyls-- the swirls. Today, I have another of the new sets to share with you. These are the thick/thin connected lines and are extra long for those of you with long nails. I love connected lines in nail vinyls, the connected chevrons are a favorite of mine and I was excited to try these. The connected sides make for easy positioning (no having to guess at even spacing between stripes) and removal all at once instead of peeling each stripe off one at a time.

KBShimmer Swirl Nail Vinyl Review!

Press Sample

Good morning, readers! I am really excited about the different Spring 2015 nail vinyls that KBShimmer is releasing this Friday. Did you catch my swatch post of part of the collection this weekend? Go check it out if you haven't, I have photos of the 3 different sheets of nail vinyls as well. Of the three different vinyl sheets, I was most excited to try the swirl designs! There are three different kinds of swirls, with 2 different sizes of each kind on the sheet (64 swirls per sheet).

I was still wearing my final 13 Days of January challenge mani this morning but I had tip wear and was ready to take it off. Then, I realized the swirl nail vinyls would provide a perfect "extend-a-mani" solution (thanks to Sheila at Pointless Cafe for that great term) and the base could look really neat peeking through a black top color. Turns out, it worked just like I had hoped!

13 Days Of January, Day 9: Rainbow (Geometric Tape Mani)

Good evening, readers! I have a rainbow manicure today to share with you for the 13 Days of January challenge! This geometric design is currently my phone wallpaper from Erin Condren and I knew I wanted to try nail art inspired by it. With so many fun colors, the Rainbow prompt was the perfect time! I used striping tape and 10 creme polishes to create this look.
