Liquidus Nail Gloss Fall 2013 Collection + Glitter Gradient!

Press Release

Good morning, readers! I have a trio of new Fall 2013 collection polishes by Liquidus Nail Gloss to share with you today. If you aren't familiar with this indie brand yet, you can find the links to my previous posts below.

Sunstone, Smithsonite, Peanutwood Review
Spring 2013 Collection Review
Summer 2013 Trio Review

What sets Liquidus apart from other indie polish brands is the unique inspiration behind the polishes! They are all inspired by rocks, gems, and minerals. I just love that! There are beautiful things here on Earth and to convey that same beauty through nail polish is awesome in my book!

Today's Fall 2013 collection consists of three polishes. One is a glitter that pairs really nicely with the other 2. That makes this collection versatile and I love the colors for fall!

Let's start with Arsenic! It is "inspired by the poisonous mineral, this polish is a gray cream with a hint of copper and yellow shimmer." It applied really well and had very good coverage! I'm showing 2 coats below with no top coat.

The shimmer is subtle but adds a lot of depth to the polish!

I knew Copper would look great over both Arsenic and Blue Diamond Turquoise, so you will see it paired with both! First, I've done one coat over Arsenic. Copper is "inspired by the bright red-orange mineral. It is a glitter bomb with copper colored hexes and microfine holo glitter in a clear glossy base." This polish is packed with glitter! You may even end up brushing some off before applying to your nails. I'm showing only ONE coat below with top coat. I love that the microfine copper glitter is holo!

Lastly, we have my favorite of the bunch, Blue Diamond Turquoise! It is "inspired by the darkest blues of the mineral, Turquoise mined from the Blue Diamond Mine, this polish is a deep glossy teal." It's so squishy, I love it! It will need 2-3 coats depending on how thick or thin you make your coats. I'm showing three here. I've added a reverse glitter gradient of Copper (using the brush in the bottle and not a sponge) because they paired so nicely together! It is more green-leaning than my camera is showing. Absolutely stunning and perfect for fall!

Well, there you have it! 3 new shades for the Liquidus Nail Gloss Fall 2013 line! Which is your favorite? These retail for $9 (full sized 0.5 fl oz) and $6 (mini sized 0.25 fl oz) at the Etsy shop link below.

Watermelon Nail Art: Liquidus Nail Gloss Summer 2013 Trio!

Good morning, readers! I have a fun nail art look to share with you this morning to brighten your Monday morning blues! It's officially summer so what better to represent the hot summer months than watermelon nail art?

Liquidus Nail Gloss just released their trio of polishes that come together to make the easiest watermelon nail art! I'm confident that all of you could replicate this look on all of your nails, or accent nails as I've done below!

Don't forget, one of the best things about Liquidus Nail Gloss polishes is that they are all inspired by rocks, gems, and minerals!

Here is a little bit about each polish before I show you the look:

Pink Agate: Inspired by the pink translucent variation of agate, this polish is a hot pink jelly perfect for a summer jelly sandwith!

Emerald: Inspired by the rich green gemstone Emerald, this polish is a dark green jelly packed full of iridescent flecks.

Obsidian: Inspired by the glassy volcanic rock Obsidian, this polish is pure black glitter. Polish includes three shapes of shiny black glitter- diamonds, hexes, and squares in a clear glossy base.

I've done Emerald on my index finger, three coats with top coat. No issues to report, it applied easily and there was slight visible nail line at three coats but that was to be expected from the jelly formula. The flecks hid most of it for me.

My middle and ring fingers are the watermelon nail art. I painted two coats of Pink Agate on both nails and let dry. Then, I took my clean up brush and pure acetone and carefully wiped away the polish from the tips to make room for the green. (You can probably tape off the tips and then remove the tape after painting on the pink to make it easier). Then, I painted one coat (with some extra dabbing to get some more big diamond glitters) of Obsidian over the Pink Agate. Finally, I did two coats of Emerald on the bare nail tips to make the outside of the watermelon. Sealed with one coat of top coat.

My pinky is three coats of Pink Agate with top coat. This is such a fabulous color and jelly formula and I can't wait to use it in some jelly sandwiches!

Digit-al Dozen DOES Geek Day 2: Eureka Nail Art!

Hello, readers! A little late in the evening for today's challenge post, but that's how it goes with little kids in the house! Owen started crawling a few days ago so he is all over the place! No more nail polishing when he is awake, I have to constantly keep an eye on him.

It's day 2 of Geek Week with the Digit-al Dozen! Today's geeky tv show inspiration is Eureka! Another favorite of our Netflix tv shows, I highly recommend watching it! I'm so sad that it ended last year.

For my nail art, I decided to do my interpretation of  "The Artifact." The Artifact is a big deal in this town of genius scientists, here is a little wiki info for you:

"The Artifact is a living organism, like a biological computer, and gives off massive amounts of energy that make it dangerous for anyone to approach it. The Artifact exists outside of space-time and is nearly invulnerable to physical damage."

They barely ever show the actual artifact throughout the series because it is under serious lock down for safety reasons in the Global Dynamics research facility.  I'll show a picture I found online and a few screen shots I did on the computer while watching. Basically, it is a rainbow of shifting colors with sparkle and swirling loops. (In fact, you should just go start watching the series and see it better for yourself!) These pictures are from a scene where they sent a rover-type robot in to take a sample of the artifact.

I chose to wear three coats of Ninja Polish Divinity, an amazing and sparkly multi chrome polish to represent the sparkling color changing artifact. I topped it off with some freehand swirls and loops with Liquidus Pearl.

Look at all of the amazing colors in Ninja Polish Divinity!

What do you think of this interpretation of Eureka's Artifact? And how about the gorgeous Ninja Polish Divinity?

You can get Divinity at the Ninja Polish website below:

Liquidus Nail Gloss: Spring 2013 Collection Swatches!

Good morning, readers! I have a spring collection from Liquidus Nail Gloss to show you today! Do you remember my previous post featuring a few of her other polishes? You can click HERE to read all about it. Something that I love about this indie brand is the inspiration behind the polishes. I love that they are all inspired by rocks, gems, and minerals! Very unique and a bit refreshing to see less glitter and more polishes.

Let's start out with the only glitter in this collection: Stichtite. "Inspired by lime greens and purple flecks found in the mineral, Stichtite. This polish is a lime green spring-like jelly with purple and white glitters." The formula was a bit thick for me so I applied two thick coats. I may add a little thinner for next time to make it a tad easier to apply. You could certainly do one coat over a base color as well. An interesting color combo and definitely a unique polish in my collection. Shown below as 2 coats with top coat.

Next, we come to Silver. I'm so glad that this isn't just a shiny metallic silver and instead has much more thought and detail that went into making it. "Inspired by the very shiny and gorgeous precious metal, Silver. This polish is packed full of fine shimmer and glitter with a base of rich gray." This was very opaque and barely needed the two coats I used. Shown with top coat.

You can see the holo sparkles wanting to come out and play a bit in the shaded area. SO pretty!

Now for my favorite of this collection, Moonstone! Oh my goodness. This just glows! One coat was amazing(still sheer and needs more to wear on it's own) and I think I need to try it over black soon! "Inspired by the iridescent blueish gemstone, Moonstone. This sheer polish is full of light blue and purple hues which changes slightly in the sun and also has a touch of holographic micro glitter." I am showing three coats for full coverage with top coat. Simply gorgeous!

Hello, little holo glitters!

Amethyst is next. "Inspired by the vibrant purple hues of the mineral, Amethyst. This polish is a soft purple with a tinge of pink and golden shimmer." Another very pretty one in this collection. I did need three coats for full coverage and am showing with top coat.

Lastly, we have Pearl. "Inspired by the white mineral a mollusk makes within it's own shell, a pearl. This polish is mostly satin white with a hint of iridescent shimmer." I like this so much more than the Milani pearl polish I posted on yesterday! I'm showing 3 thin coats with top coat.

What do you think of this spring collection by Liquidus Nail Gloss? Are you going to purchase any?

Liquidus Nail Gloss Swatch and Review!

Good morning, readers! I have a new-to-me indie polish brand to share with you today! It's called Liquidus Nail Gloss! Here is what the owner, Danielle, had to say about her brand:

 "Where nature meets nail polish.
Liquidus is where crystal meets liquid, where trends meet fashion, where nature meets nail polish. Geology runs in my family so all of our nail polishes are inspired by rocks, gems, and minerals. We hand mix and hand pour every bottle to ensure each one meets our standards. All of our nail polishes are 3-Free (free from Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP), Formaldehyde and Toluene). And all of our nail polishes ship in ecofriendly packages that can be composted and are 100% biodegradable. "
I absolutely love learning the inspiration behind nail polishes and I think the Liquidus brand has a very cool inspiration! I loved Geology in college and love how these ideas have translated into polishes.
Here are the three polishes that Danielle was kind enough to send to me:
Sunstone, Smithsonite, and Peanut Wood.

Let's start off with Smithsonite! This is in my range of favorite colors so I was really excited to receive this one! It's a gorgeous aqua shimmer "inspired by the pearly aqua mineral" it was named after. It is a bit on the frosty side because it is jam packed with the shimmer,  but the brushstrokes weren't too noticeable. I personally don't mind a bit of a frosty look and love colors like that for layering glitters over! I'm showing 3 coats below with top coat and have no issues to report at all.

Next up is Sunstone! This is "inspired by the pale translucent gemstone and combines hues of light yellows and pale pinks." This was also a little frosty but nothing that would deter me from wearing it again. It's so shimmery and yet subdued and less "in your face" than a typical gold polish. It is a delicate and work appropriate color and even my husband commented on how nice it was. I am showing three coats below with top coat. No issues to report.

And finally we come to the glitter of the group, Peanut Wood. "Inspired by the brown and white petrified wood," it is a brown jelly base with two sizes of white square glitters. I loved this one once it was on much more than I expected to. The color combination is really awesome and I loved how the brown base was opaque enough to only need 2-3 coats and yet sheer enough to not cover the white glitter too much and make them muddy looking. I'm showing 3 coats below with top coat and have no issues to report. I didn't really have to dig for the bigger glitter and they covered to almost smooth with just one coat of top coat. When I showed this to my husband, he told me it looked like s'mores!

So tell me your thoughts on these three Liquidus Nail Glosses! Which is your favorite, least favorite, etc?

Liquidus polishes can be purchased for $6 (.25 fl oz) and $9 (.5 fl oz) at the Etsy Shop below.
