The Digit-al Dozen DOES Decades, Day 5: Scooby-Doo Nail Art!

Affiliate Links

Hello and good morning! Is it really Friday already? This week flew by! I hope you've been enjoying Decades Week with The Digit-al Dozen as much as I have. These weeks challenge me and I love that I find things to do for nail art that I wouldn't have already tried without the prompts!

This manicure is inspired by the 70s tv cartoon Scooby-Doo. (Okay, okay, if you want to get technical, the first show was in 1969 but I already did a 60s mani this week.) Shaggy is Scooby-Doo's best bud so of course I had to paint him as well. The other two nails are inspired by the design on their cool van: The Mystery Machine.

Tutorial Tuesday: Abominable Snowman Nail Art!

Good morning, readers! It has been forever since I've done a proper Tutorial Tuesday post. Sorry about that! The holidays are crazy around here and with Hailey off of school, there wasn't time to do extra posts like that.

But, I'm back and trying to get into the groove! Since it's pretty much FREEZING all over right now, it seemed like a great idea to do a Yeti/Abominable Snowman tutorial! This design was my VERY FIRST post with The Digit-al Dozen last December and it's still one of my favorites!

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Skittles Day 5: Brown and Turquoise!

Good morning, readers! It's the final day of "Skittle Week" with The Digit-al Dozen. This is a random mani but I loved the color combo and I can see myself wearing some of the individual finger designs as a full mani in the future!

Dior Saint Tropez, Picture Polish Lagoon, Picture Polish Demeter, and Butter London Teetotal are the polishes used.

Thumb: gradient of all 4.
Index: gradient of Saint Tropez and Teetotal.
Middle: gradient of Lagoon and Demeter.
Ring: gradient of Teetotal and Demeter.
Pinky: gradient of Saint Tropez and Lagoon.

The bottles even look pretty next to eachother!

What do you think? This was one of the messiest manis I've done in a long time but it was worth it, these colors together are awesome!

Thanks so much for reading!

Colorful Leopard Nail Art!

Hello, readers! If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw my nail pic I posted on Sunday of this leopard print mani. We took a family trip to Busch Gardens so I thought it was appropriate to do some kind of animal print nails to wear. I was wanting to redo a leopard print after my previous fail and I like this color combo much more!

I used:
Duri Rejuvacote
2 coats of Butter London Slapper
Zoya Reagan for the inner spots
OPI Alpine Snow for the spot outlines
Medium, Small, and smallest dotters for the details
Poshe top coat

What do you think of this color combo? Thanks for reading!

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Art: Abstract Lines!

Hello readers! Are you enjoying Art week? It's day 3 and today's post is an abstract line design using some Butter London polishes! I found a Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen in my drawer and realized that it would work pretty well for this line design and it saved me a lot of time! I think it's basically like a permanent black marker but it worked! Then, I just filled in the shapes with the 4 different Butter London colors.

A little bumpy from the pen, but I still like it!

I used:
Duri Rejuvacote
Base color of Milani White on the Spot
Black Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen
Butter Londons Bluey, Blagger, Slapper, and Sprog.
Poshe top coat

What do you think? I really like how it turned out! Come back tomorrow to see what else I've come  up with for Art Week! Thanks for reading!

Butter London Slapper and Teal Comparison

Hello readers! I have a quick post for you tonight before I head to bed, yawn! I have Butter London Slapper  and then the teal comparison I did after I wore Slapper and thought it was similar to others in my stash.

Two coats of Butter London Slapper

Comparison of Essence Bella, Butter London Slapper, and Milani Fresh Teal

As you can see, Essence Bella is much more green than the other two. Milani Fresh Teal pulls more blue than Slapper but they are very similar that I doubt you would need both. Shown as 2 coats of each, Bella is the only one that has the potential to be a one coater.

What do you think? Do you have any of these? Thanks for reading!

Periwinkle Comparison Post

Hi readers! I've recently acquired some new polishes and after seeing them in person, I thought they looked similar to others in my stash. I've got 3 comparison posts planned to show you in the next week. Hopefully they will be helpful for you!

Today's comparison post is on periwinkles. I was wondering how close Butter London Sprog was to China Glaze Secret Peri-wink-le before I got it in a swap and it turns out they are pretty close. I also recently got Zoya Jo and Illamasqua Cameo so I threw those into the comparison as well!

Butter London Sprog and Illamasqua Cameo are 2 coats, China Glaze Secret Peri-wink-le and Zoya Jo are 3 coats, no top coat. As you can see, Sprog and Secret Peri-wink-le are very close, with Sprog a hair lighter. Sprog had a much better formula(and should, for the price being about double the China Glaze) out of the two. I like that Zoya Jo fits well with the first two, but the added shimmer sets it apart. Cameo is obviously too dark and bluer but I wanted to add it in because it is a new Sephora exclusive that is described online as a periwinkle and maybe this will help anyone deciding to buy it.

I love periwinkle colors! I can probably do without the China Glaze now, though. Thanks for reading!

Maya Cosmetics Swatches!

Today I have some pretty polishes from a new indie brand called Maya Cosmetics. If you are a follower of Michelle over at Things I Love At The Moment, you should know what I am talking about because she recently did an awesome interview with the creator, Kat, and swatched the entire collection of polishes!

Kat was kind enough to send these 4 my way to share with you all! I have: Commotion, Kung-Fu Treachery, Hyperbole, and Last Call. 3 glitters and 1 gorgeous color shifting shimmer!

First, I have Commotion. This glitter topper is crazy packed. What you are seeing below is less than one coat on each finger over Butter London Sprog. Yes, so packed that I ended up wiping some glitter off the brush before I applied because it was so dense. Very pretty color combo here of blue, purple, pink, silver glitters in a clear base. I bet in 2-3 coats you could wear this alone if you preferred. Shown with top coat.

The square glitters seem to have "reflective curling" because with one coat of top coat, they were smooth to the touch.

Next up is Kung-Fu Treachery. I chose to layer one coat over Deborah Lippmann Footloose. The unique part of this multishaped black and white glitter is the added tiny gold glitters. So often it's a silver added into this color combo and having gold was a nice change! I did have to arrange some of the glitter but it wasn't bad. Shown with one coat of top coat.

Onto the last of the glitters. This is Hyperbole. It has a blue jelly base and its packed with different colored and shaped glitters. This was another with so much glitter that I wiped some off for easier application. I'm showing 3 coats below with top coat. It has pink, orange, blue, and chartreuse glitters. The only glitters I had an issue with were the big chartreuse hexes, some seemed to be curling a bit because they were visible off the nail with top coat. I'm sure a thicker top coat would alleviate this. I love this color combination of glitters to base!

Look at how much glitter is in there!

And finally we come to the shimmer of the group: Last Call. Last Call is a gorgeous color shifting shimmer and I love it! It's a blackened violet and the shimmer flecks shift from blue to purple to pink on the nail. The best part? Just 2 easy coats and it doesn't have to be worn over black to see the color shift! That's my least favorite part of duo and multichrome polishes. Shown with top coat.

How gorgeous it is even in the bottle!!

So pretty!!

So what do you think of these new Maya Cosmetic polishes? They retail for $8 each and can be purchased here: http://www.maya-cosmetics.com/

For the month of October, $1 for each polish bought will be split up and donated to Fisher House and Wounded Warriors.

Paisley Nails!

Hello readers! I feel like it's been ages since I've posted a stamp nail design so I am happy to do this post today! I've been wanting the Konad paisley design stamp plate for the longest time and when I found out that Born Pretty had a dupe(and it was on sale a few weeks ago!) I snatched it up! I couldn't wait to use it and am not disappointed!

I had to try out the gorgeous new blue OPI that Ashley got me(as seen in yesterday's haul post) so I decided that would be the base color. It was pretty enough to be left on it's own, though! I wish I'd taken a pic to show you just the blue before the stamping.

I used:
Base Coat of OPI Natural Nail Base Coat
2 Coats of OPI No Room For The Blues
Sally Hansen Color Quick Chrome Pen in Fuchsia Chrome and Born Pretty Plate m60
Flower detail dot in a-englad Lady of the Lake
Dot detail in butter LONDON British Racing Green
Top Coat of Poshe

This was the first time I stamped with the Sally Hansen Chrome polish pen and love the coverage! I think I grabbed this on clearance a while back and am now wishing I'd grabbed some more colors. Also, I can't wait for my nubbin nails to grow back out. I was keeping them shorter over the holidays when I was too busy to keep up with them and now I miss my longer nails! Grow grow grow!!

What are your thought on this plate design? I love paisley!!! Thanks for reading!

Louise and Edward over Big Smoke

Hello readers! Now that the challenge is over, I've started to try some new polishes I bought during the challenge month. There seems to be a lot going on with this mani, but I really like it in person and can't stop looking at my nails! I appologize for the pictures, it's been rainy here so they didn't come out as good as usual.

This was just essence Louise over butterLONDON Big Smoke. I could have stopped there, but I wanted more color.

This is with essence Edward added. They are much more sparkly and colorful in person, I wish I could have gotten a better picture.

What do you think? Should I have stopped after Louise? Thanks for reading!

He's Home!!

Hey there everyone! I just wanted to share my exciting news that my husband arrived home safely from Afghanistan! I have a few pictures to share with you, as well as my awesome camo nails I did for when we went to the airport to pick him up!

Here are my nails:
"MY <3 IS HOME" on the fingers.
I used: Base Coat of OPI Nail Envy
Base color: Ulta Taupe on a Rope
Camo pattern(using my biggest dotting tool and making irregular shapes) with: butterLONDON British Racing Green, Ulta Army of 1, and OPI Suzi Loves Cowboys.
Striper Brush and Sally Hansen Insta Dri Quick Brick for the words.
Top Coat of Out The Door.

What do you think? I wish the red was more of a contrast since it seems a little harder to read the words on the camo, but I still love how they turned out.

Here are 2 more pictures from our day:
Here is the sign we made for our door this morning. :)

And here is our group shot at the airport. :) We are so happy to be all together again!!

Thanks for reading! I have a few days worth of scheduled posts so we can spend some family time together.
