Nail Art: Gwen Stefani by OPI Skittlette!

Press Sample

Good morning, readers! You voted on my Facebook page, so today's post is a fun nail art skittlette look that I created using 4 of the new Gwen Stefani by OPI Collection! I'll have a full swatch post up for you tomorrow, so this is like a sneak peek on the colors!

Gwen Stefani's signature red, Over & Over A-Gwen, is only available in a box set and it includes nail glue, and idea pamphlet, studs, and Swarovski Elements crystals for some funky nail art. Naturally, I wanted to use those to make a fun manicure.

  • My thumb is 2 coats of OPI Over & Over A-Gwen. It is a gorgeous bright red creme and was shiny enough that I didn't even add top coat. After it was dry, I used some nail glue and added a diamond shaped metal stud at the cuticle.
  • My index and middle fingers have 1 coat of OPI Lay Down That Base (the special free mini base coat that is included in the duo pack when you buy OPI Push and Shove) and 2 coats of OPI Push and Shove. Once that gorgeous chrome mirror finish dried, I used my striper brush and OPI 4 In The Morning to do a crisscross quilted pattern. As a finishing touch, I used nail glue and added some gold circle studs where the lines crossed. This design was actually in the "idea pamphlet" and I loved it so much that I wanted to try it out!
  • My ring finger was 2 coats of OPI Over & Over A-Gwen. Once that was dry, I did a "ruffian" design with OPI 4 In The Morning. That dries to a black satin finish and it's a really cool look. I then used some nail glue and added another diamond shaped metal stud in the center of the ruffian.
  • Finally, my pinky was 2 coats of OPI Love.Angel.Music.Baby. It is my favorite of the collection, a gold satin glitter and it applies flawlessly. I used a large dotting tool to do a dot of the red OPI Over & Over A-Gwen in the center of the nail. Then, I used nail glue and added three black crystal studs.

What do you think of this funky look? I actually LOVED it, and wore it for a night out. The studs are definitely for a one night event, unless maybe you sealed them in with top coat instead of just using nail glue like I did. I had a few missing when I woke up.

I am really excited about this Gwen Stefani by OPI Collection and I can't wait for you to see the entire collection swatched tomorrow for Swatch Saturday-- so don't forget to come back for that! Thanks so much for reading!
