The Digit-al Dozen DOES It All Again: Music!

Hello, readers! Today is the third day of the September Spectacular where the Digit-al Dozen recreate the first 12 months of themes in celebration of our one year anniversary! I decided to go out of the box a bit with today's MUSIC theme. Instead of doing nail art inspired by some of my favorite music, I decided to do nail art inspired by HOW I listen to music: Pandora Internet Radio!

It is a rare moment if you catch me listening to music at home and it isn't coming from one of my various Pandora stations. So this is what music means to me!

I've done a design similar to the background of the main page of Pandora.com and for my accent nail I recreated the app icon that is on my iPhone!

• For most of my nails, I did 2 coats of OPI Dating a Royal.
• Once dry, I did overlapping dots of China Glaze Rainstorm and OPI Dating A Royal.

The Digit-al Dozen DOES It All Again: Halloween!

Hello, readers! It's day 2 of the Digit-al Dozen September Spectacular! We are throwing-back to the last 12 nail art themes to celebrate the one year anniversary! Today's theme is Halloween and it's inspired by a few ideas by my friend, Ashley from Ashley is PolishAddicted! The main one was this "sunburst" tape+texture mani. I thought that I could alter the sunburst tape design into a spiderweb and I love how it turned out!

• I painted my accent nails first with China Glaze Dandy Lyin' Around, and topped with quick dry top coat to speed up the taping process.
• Once that was dry, I taped with striping tape in the web design.
• I then painted stripes of Zoya Beatrix and Dahliaand dabbed them over all of my nails to create a gradient look. (My tutorial HERE can show this more easily)
• Then, I carefully pulled up the tape and cleaned up around the nail with acetone and a cleanup brush.

I really like how it turned out. I could have waited longer for the base color to dry, you can see in the macro that some of the white was pulled up. But all in all I think it worked out really well. What do you think?

The Digit-al Dozen DOES It All Again: Blue!

Hello, readers! I'm back from our mini vacation for the holiday weekend with an exciting post! I hope you saw my post earlier about the awesome giveaway I am a part of with the rest of The Digit-al Dozen! (September Spectacular Giveaway)

It's our 1 year anniversary and to celebrate, we are "doing it all again!" For the next 2 weeks, we are revisiting the past 12 themes and doing them again! Today's redo theme is Blue! I wasn't part of The Digit-al Dozen for the first few months last year so this was a new theme to me.

I decided to do a blue gradient with textured dots of similar blues on the opposite half of the nails.

• First, I did a gradient with Zoya Jo and Tallulah and added top coat.
• Then, I used two sizes of dotting tools and did textured dots on Tallulah with Zoya Nyx.
• Lastly, I used two sizes of dotting tools and did textured dots on Jo with Liberty.

I've decided that the gradient base is almost lost among the dots. You can see it best in the macro shot below.

Swatch Sunday: Ruby Wing Sweet Cream and Chocolate Mousse!

Good morning! I am doing back to back swatch days for you this weekend. Tomorrow starts a big 2 week nail art challenge so I wanted to get all of these swatches up before hand! Today's post features 2 Ruby Wing polishes from the new Cupcakes & Champagne collection. They are scented and solar color changing polishes!

A few things about these polishes before the pictures. Let me tell you, these polishes REALLY are scented. So if you get headaches from scented nail polish, these are not for you. Also, the solar change is really great so I've shown them without base colors so you could see the change. You can certainly layer these over any base color.

Sweet Cream is a pretty pink shimmer when you are indoors, and changes to a gorgeous, deep, eggplant purple/blue with red shimmer out in the sun! I'm showing 2 coats below without top coat. No application issues to report!

Now for Chocolate Mousse. I'm showing 2 coats with 2 coats of gel top coat below. The formula on this was tricky because its so thick to hold those iridescent flakes. The flakes don't lie completely flat so that's why I tried 2 coats of gel top coat. Unfortunately, that made them even thicker and uneven. I suggest layering one coat over a base color and skip the top coat. The solar change is really great on this one as well! Indoors, it's a clear base with iridescent flakes. Outdoors, it changes to a dark purple with flakes.

What do you think of these new Ruby Wing polishes? I'm not a big fan of scented polish, it tends to give me a headache over time. However, I loved the solar color change! It was such a big difference in color and these were the first solar change polishes I've tried.
