Swatch Saturday: Barielle Brilliant Colors Collection!

Press Sample

Good afternoon! I hope you are all enjoying your weekend so far! It's been busier than expected over here, so that's why this post is so late in the day. When Barielle asked me to join their blogging team, I was able to pick some things to try out and review for you guys. I'll have some more posts in the near future, but for now I will show you the Brilliant Colors Collection! This was last year's summer collection (but of course it is still available on their site!) and I love the bright colors. There are five fun cremes, and I can't wait to use them for some nail art soon!

Before I begin, I wanted to add that I used Barielle Hydrating Ridge Filler base coat for each of these swatches. I really like that it dries quickly to a satin finish. I don't have deep ridges, but it worked well for me to have a more even surface for application.

Barielle Straight A Coral
A red-leaning coral creme.
I'm showing three coats with no top coat below.
It was slightly uneven at two coats, but the color payoff was definitely worth the three coats. This is my favorite of the collection!

Barielle Smarty Pants Pink
A bubblegum pink creme.
I'm showing three coats below with no top coat.
It was slightly uneven at two coats, but not sheer.

Barielle High Marks Purple
A berry purple creme.
I'm showing two coats below with no top coat.
No issues to report!

Barielle Head Of The Class Green
A vivid teal creme.
I'm showing ONE coat below with no top coat.
Completely serious, this is one coat! It is extremely pigmented and I was warned that it was a stainer before I tried it, so I made sure to use two coats of base coat. Also, I recommend letting your cotton square sit on the nail for a minute and then dragging straight off to prevent the pigment from staining the skin and cuticles. **Unfortunately, I was so careful with removing this hand that I didn't realize that the cotton pad I was holding during removal stained my fingertips on the other hand! My biggest tip for any staining on nails, skin, or cuticles is to dampen your hands with water and dump a pile of baking soda onto them and scrub scrub scrub! All of the staining was gone after I rinsed.

Barielle Magna Cum Laude Turquoise
A vibrant blue creme.
I'm showing two coats below with no top coat.
Similar to Head Of The Class Green, it is very pigmented and another warned stainer. I used two coats of base coat before application and was careful with removal. I did have some staining on my finger tips so I scrubbed with baking soda as well for this one.

So what do you think of this bright Brilliant Colors Collection from Barielle? These are available now at Barielle.com. They retail for $8 each (.45 fl oz/ 13.3 ml bottle), or a box set of all 5 for only $25!

Thanks so much for reading!

  1. Jacki, I'm so glad you'll be reviewing for Barielle! I had bought a few of their polishes a couple of years ago, sight unseen except for the sort of hard-to-tell-what-color-it-really-is dots of color on their website. You'll be helping so many of us make a better choice with your lovely swatches! My opinion is that these are very good quality polishes -- right up there with OPI and Zoya.
