Lime Crime Zodiac Glitter Review!

Good morning, readers! I have something a little bit different to show you today. It's loose glitter from Lime Crime! You have probably heard of them for their nail polish line of dessert-inspired pastel colors. Here is my post on that collection. Well, they have also released a Zodiac inspired line of loose glitters to use on nails or in any other beauty application you need. I have 6 of the 13 to show you today.

Let's take a look!

They come in these super adorable boxes:

The inside of the boxes are detailed as well!

The caps are adorned with zodiac symbols around the edge and I just love the detail put into the packaging. I've noticed that with all of the Lime Crime makeup.

Here is the stack of 6 so you can see the gorgeous colors!

Some color shifting, holographic, and multicolored glitters!

This is what you see when you unscrew the cap. You have to peel off the protective sticker to let the glitter shake out.

I decided to do a mani with all 6 so you could get a good look for all of the colors. This is how I did it:

1) Paint one coat of white and allow to dry completely.
2) Using non-fast dry clear top coat, I did an uneven line 1/3 of my nail from the cuticle toward the tip.
3) While the clear was still wet, I shook the color I wanted to stick to the clear all over it.
NOTE: this will be a little messy. I suggest doing this over a piece of paper so you can save the    excess or just for easier cleanup.
4) Once that has set for a minute or two, I gently pressed down all over the glitter with my finger to make sure it was adhering to the clear.
5) I repeated these steps for the other 2 sections on each nail. I was going for a gradient look but it turned out more like stripes instead.
6) Once all of the glitter had been applied and clear was allowed to dry completely, I used a soft makeup brush(like for blush or for velvet flocking powder nails if you have a kit like I do) and brushed around the nail and cuticles to get rid of the excess glitter. I also gently brushed across the nail to get any extras off.

I'm not sure how long these would last like this, so if you wanted, you could seal the glitter in with a thick top coat. I think this could be similar to the "rockstar nails" I've seen before. I love that you can apply wet polish in any pattern and the glitter will stick. There are a lot of possibilities!

I've labeled the names for you on the macro shots:

Virgo: Pure like virgin snow. Transluscent white at first glance, this glitter turns violet-blue on application!
Pisces: Periwinkle-blue with green/copper shift.
Aquarius: Deep midnight blue with a marvelous purple/turquoise shift.
Ophiuchus: Multi-colored holographic. Think disco ball in a jar. Named after a hoax that suggested Ophiucus to be a missing sign in the zodiac.
Capricorn: Forest green that shifts from blue-green to green-gold depending on the angle. Reminiscent of a june bug.
Cancer: Rich turquoise, blue/green shift.

What do you think of these Zodiac Glitters from Lime Crime? Would you get some? Which are your favorites? There are 7 more colors so go check them out at the link below!

Lime Crime glitters can be purchased for $12.99 each (4g/0.14oz)

Slot Machine Nails!

Hello readers! Are you ready for the weekend? I have a fun nail design to show you today! A group of nail polish friends and I have been talking about meeting up in Vegas sometime for a girls weekend and it made me think about cute nails that I'd wear if I were able to go! It would be so fun to do some shopping(especially for nail polish!), shows, and play casino games with friends! The only time I've been to Las Vegas was on a family vacation when I was 17 and we weren't even allowed to be in the Casino Lobby of our hotel because my siblings and I were under age. I'd love to go back and be able to experience it now that I'm an adult.

I'm not the best at card games so I know for sure if I were in a casino, you'd find me at the slot machines! It seems that you don't need much skill and its mostly luck so it would be the best place for me! I thought it  would be fun to do some freehand nail art of a slot machine on my nails! I really like how they turned out!

I used:
Duri Rejuvacote
2 coats of Milani Silver Stilettos

Colors for the nail art:
Milani White On The Spot
Milani Black Swift
Milani Rapid Cherry
China Glaze Passion
Lime Crime Pastelchio
OPI Blue My Mind

So what do you think? I really enjoyed doing this nail art and need to make more time for it these days. Thanks for reading!

Lime Crime Spun Sugar Nail Art and Swatches!

Hello, readers! I have a new polish brand to share with you today and a fun nail art technique I got to try out as well. These polishes were sent to me from Lime Crime and they are 7 pastel cremes with cute dessert themed names.

The collection is called Les Desserts d'Antoinette and is described on their site as: "7 pastel shades, inspired by confectionary delights from Marie Antoinette's table. Recklessly pigmented crème formula is rich, smooth and opaque in just two coats. Each bottle comes equipped with a flat, wide brush for superb control and flawless application. Never tested on animals. 3-Free."

First, let's see the Spun Sugar nail technique I tried out using all of the colors:

Here is a tutorial as an example of how to do this technique if you are wondering: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flOT8blujcA

This was a really messy design that required a lot of clean up and a lot of time. Doing this many colors took me about an hour a hand! I'm thinking that next time I'll do an accent nail instead. Also, top coat ruined the look so I had to leave it off.

Onto the Lime Crime polishes:
I love the frosty bottles with the unicorn logo!

They all come in these cute individual boxes with name labels on the top as well!

Although they are marketed as two-coaters, I had a difficult time with application. Each of these are with 3 coats and they weren't as even as I'd be happy with. All shown without top coat.

Parfait Day is a bubblegum pink and it was one of  the hardest for me to apply. It seemed that when I had enough polish on the brush to cover the entire nail, I'd start leaving ridges in it while evening it out.

Peaches  Cream is a pastel orange and was also one of the hardest to apply evenly for me.

Crema De Limon surprised me by being one of the easier to apply. Normally, I find pastel yellows to be the hardest but this wasn't because it was a thinner formula. However, you can see a thin spot on the index finger where it didn't even out well.

Pastelchio is the brightest of the colors and I would call it almost neon instead of a pastel green. I love this color! It took some work to apply, though, and you can see on my index finger that there are still ridges from the application.

Once In A Blue Mousse was the easiest to apply and a really pretty robin's egg blue creme. Almost worked with 2 coats but I'm showing 3.

Lavendairy was another favorite of the colors for me but you can see the ridges from the brush again so it wasn't as smooth as the blue.

Lastly, Milky Ways. To me, this looks like an orange toned off white creme. This was the base for the nail art mani at the beginning of this post. This is such an odd color to me, I don't see myself wearing it on it's own, but I think it worked well as the base color for all of the others.

So what do you think of these Lime Crime polishes? I have to say that I love love love the colors. They are wonderful for nail art and I can't wait to try out more combinations with them. I had trouble with the application so I honestly don't know how often I'd go through the trouble to use them as base colors or on their own. I will add, however, that the application was easier when your layers were completely dry before adding another coat. They seemed to level out as they dried and that left a better surface for the next layer. I also think that adding a layer of top coat would smooth out the look as well. I love their packaging and the flat brush as well. I am so glad they are Vegan Friendly, 3-free, and Cruelty Free.

Lime Crime can be purchased on their site HERE for $5.99 a polish, or $39.99 for the set of all 7.

Which is your favorite color? Thanks for reading!
