Good morning, readers! It's time for the final post of Fandom Week with The Digit-al Dozen. I had to bring it back to my favorite fandom for nail art: Doctor Who! This is a tribute to last season with Peter Capaldi as the 12th doctor--with a nod to the episode called Flatline where to T.A.R.D.I.S. was shrinking with him inside of it. I am so anxious for the new season to start!

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Fandom, Day 4: The Hunger Games
Good evening, readers! It's Day 4 of Fandom Week with The Digit-al Dozen and I have a simple mani today representing a favorite book and movie series: The Hunger Games. The three books have similar symbols on the covers so I went for simple silhouettes to represent the books! These books blew me away (even if the third isn't a favorite) and they've done a really nice job with the movies, too.

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Fandom, Day 3: House of Cards
Good evening, readers! I have the third mani for Fandom Week with The Digit-al Dozen to share with you tonight. I've done a lot of nail art in the past inspired by favorite books, movies, tv shows, etc, so this week is a bit harder than I expected it to be. I'm trying to branch out into things for inspiration I haven't already done before. One of the newest shows (in the past few months) that the hubby and I have binge watched on Netflix is House of Cards. This is a political drama and I am still wondering why it was able to draw me in and want to watch as many episodes in a sitting as we could. I'm more of a fantasy genre fan--give me some vampires, super heroes, witches, etc, and I will most likely love the show. I guess it just has something special about it. Today, I've recreated the logo of the show title on my nails.

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Fandom, Day 2: Harry Potter!
Good evening, readers! As promised earlier, I have Day 2 of Fandom Week with The Digit-al Dozen. YAY for getting caught up to the rest of the girls. I am a big Harry Potter Fan. I loved the books and I've seen the movies more times than I can count. One of my favorite characters in the series was Dobby, the house elf. Hopefully this is not a spoiler, but at the end of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry helps set Dobby free from the Malfoy family. That's what I'm portraying in this mani.

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Fandom, Day 1: Divergent!
Good morning, readers! It's Fandom Week with The Digit-al Dozen and I'm so excited!! Yesterday was Day 1, but we took the boat out for a family day so you will probably get Day 1 and Day 2 today from me to make up for it. The first mani for the week is inspired by one of my favorite book and movie series: Divergent by Veronica Roth. In the futuristic, dystopian Chicago set story, the people are divided into 5 factions based on their personalities. I've recreated the symbols for each faction on my nails for this mani!

Good evening, readers! I have my final Geometric Week mani with The Digit-al Dozen tonight. I've used all new Zoya Summer 2015 polishes for this look. The base is Zoya Genesis and the rectangles are all of the Zoya Island Sun Collection. These vivid cremes are perfect for nail art and I love how this funky mani turned out.

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Geometric, Day 4: Elspeth McLean Inspired Dotticure
Good morning, readers! It's the fourth day of Geometric Week with The Digit-al Dozen and I'm really excited about today's design. I've been hearing and seeing tons of posts over the last month or so online about the artist named Elspeth McLean and I've fallen in love with her work of dots on stones. Here is her Facebook Page so you can see what I mean if you are unfamiliar. Her use of dots and colors is so cheerful and inspiring. I've done my best try translating a similar design onto my 2 accent nails today. They aren't nearly as perfect or intricate as Elspeth's work but I still like how they turned out.

Press Sample
Good morning, readers! It's Day 3 of Geometric Week with The Digit-al Dozen and I have some nail art that will send you right back to math class. These ti-arrow tessellation nails were easily created using a stamping plate from the Winstonia Third Generation Stamp Plate Set. I'll be sharing a full review of the set with you in the near future but this is my first time trying any images and it was a huge success! Let's take a look.

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Geometric, Day 2: Broken Chevron Nail Art
Good evening, readers! It's a bit late for me to post around here, but today is Hailey's 7th birthday and it was a day of fun and family time. Today's Geometric Week mani is dedicated to Hailey as well because it was inspired by her new bed sheets. I'm calling this design "broken chevron" and I was so in love with the color combo as soon as we bought them. Check out my Instagram for a bonus shot holding a pillow case.

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Geometric, Day 1: Quatrefoil Gradient
Good morning, readers! It's Monday, but I have good news! It's Digit-al Dozen Week and the theme is Geometric. I'm still trying to brainstorm ideas for the week, but I suspect we will see lots of shapes, patterns, and lines from most of us this week. Today's mani is what I've been wearing all weekend and I really love the color combo of the bright creme gradient over the darker shimmer quatrefoil pattern.

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Childhood, Day 5: Candy Land Nail Art!
Good afternoon, readers! It's the final day of Childhood Week with The Digit-al Dozen. I've shown you a favorite tv show, favorite book, favorite toy, and favorite outdoor activity. Today, I'll show a favorite board game: Candy Land! I think this is a fairly common game that most everyone has seen or played in their lifetime. There have been many variations of the characters over the years, the one my kids have is different than mine. I decided to focus on one of my favorite characters, Princess Lolly! The rest of the nails represent the colorful spaces you follow in the game.

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Childhood, Day 4: Sandcastles!
Good morning, readers! It's time for my fourth Childhood Week mani with The Digit-al Dozen. Who didn't love making sandcastles at the beach (or in a sandbox) as a kid? I grew up on the east coast of Florida so beach days were often and a fun memory of mine. We recently moved back here so my own kids are getting into building sandcastles now as well! Zoya Godiva Pixie Dust was a fun additional layer over the sandy parts of this mani, giving it a sandy texture and extra sparkle.

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Childhood, Day 3: LEGOS!
Good afternoon, readers! Today is the third day of Childhood Week with The Digit-al Dozen. I have already covered a favorite tv show and a favorite book, so today I'm sharing a favorite toy: LEGOS! Who hasn't played with these before? My kids love them and I enjoy playing with them now almost as much as I did as a kid. For this mani, I've just done classic LEGO things: loose LEGOS (don't step on those!), a LEGO character, the LEGO logo, and stacked LEGOS.

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Childhood, Day 2: One Fish, Two Fish...
Good afternoon, readers! Are you ready for my second Childhood Week mani? This was inspired by one of our [many] favorite books written by Dr. Seuss-- One fish two fish red fish blue fish. I recreated the fish from the cover of the book. Growing up, and now as a parent, Dr. Seuss books have been a big part of our home library. We even have this one in 2 formats--Owen has the board book and we have the regular hardcover on Hailey's shelves.

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Childhood, Day 1: Power Rangers!
Good morning, readers! It's time for this month's Digit-al Dozen nail art week! The theme is Childhood and I can't wait to see the versatile manis from the group this week. This is such a fun theme and it can go so many different ways--from things reminding us of our own childhoods, things that remind us of our own children, things that are just child-like in general, etc.
My first mani is inspired by a tv show that has been around for YEARS, with many different series themes. It's the Power Rangers! It debuted in 1993 and you can find 20+ seasons on Netflix today. My kids, Hailey (6.5) and Owen (2.5) are obsessed with them. They pick Power Rangers more often than any other show during their tv time--and their favorite series is Power Rangers Samurai.
I've recreated the 5 main Samurai Power Ranger helmets on my nails for today's look.

TGIF! It's Friday, it's Friday! It's a boat day for us, so I've scheduled this post ahead of time and will hopefully be out enjoying the sunshine and waves when you get to read this. It's the final day of Nature Week with The Digit-al Dozen and today's mani is possible thanks to another awesome tutorial in Idiot's Guides: Nail Art by Emily from The Lacquerologist. I hope you've enjoyed the other nail art book inspired manis this week. I can't recommend this book enough, and that's my 100% total honest opinion.
As we have discussed before, florals are not my strong suit. I'm working and practicing though, so I was excited to try these Hydrangeas after looking through the book again. This tutorial can be found on pages 116-117 in the Intermediate Designs section.

Good morning! I'm back today with my 4th mani for Digit-al Dozen Nature Week. This was another mani created by following one of the tutorials in Idiot's Guides: Nail Art by Emily from The Lacquerologist. It's an aerial view of beach waves and so easy to create without any special tools (aside from my little star fish and shell extras).

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Nature, Day 3: Mermaid Tail Nail Art
Good morning, readers! Are you ready for Day 3 of Nature Week with The Digit-al Dozen? I wore this mani all weekend and loved it so much! It's been a little over a year since I first tried free handed Mermaid Scales and I even did a simple tutorial for it! For this mani, I went a different route and added more color to the fin before adding the scale pattern on top. Mermaids may not be real, but I'm fitting them in with nature week anyway!

Good morning, readers! Are you ready for Day 2 of Nature Week with The Digit-al Dozen? I've done leopard print nail art many times, but this is the first time I've tried to match the colors and base to an actual leopard. With the help of 2 different Simple Designs tutorials from Idiot's Guides: Nail Art by Emily The Lacquerologist, I am quite happy with how this nature-inspired mani turned out!

Good morning, readers! I'm alive! It was a busy week last week and I didn't have time for painting my nails or posts, sorry for the lack of communication. However, I was able to get this week's Digit-al Dozen manis ready for you! The theme is Nature and I can't wait to see how everyone does! It's so broad that I think we will have tons of variation in nail art.
My first mani was inspired by a tutorial in my favorite nail art book (that I've shown you many times before!), Idiot's Guides: Nail Art by Emily from The Lacquerologist. Actually, the majority of my manis for this week were done using tutorials out of the book so this will be exciting!
The Palm Trees tutorial is found on pages 144-145, in the Intermediate Designs section of Idiot's Guides: Nail Art. I remember trying a similar mani on my younger sister years ago, before the start of Adventures In Acetone, and I can't believe I've never done one on myself.
