Paisley Skittlette Manicure!

Good morning, readers! I hope you all had a fabulous holiday weekend! Our's was busy and I didn't have time for nail art until this morning. I was stumped at what to do on my nails, so I started grabbing polishes that I liked together. Pahlish Sarey's Berry, Nerd Lacquer Cyance Friction, and KBShimmer Run! It's The Coppers! complemented each other well. After doing a skittlette with the three base colors, I decided to add a simple paisley pattern.

OPI Nordic Skittlette!

Press Sample

Good morning, readers! I dropped the ball yesterday, it was Adventures In Acetone's 3rd Blogiversary! It occurred to me when I got into bed last night, I guess I should be better about it next year and celebrate or something!

Anyway, I wanted to show you a simple skittlette manicure I wore this weekend for my son, Owen's, 2nd birthday celebration! I used three of the new OPI Nordic Collection polishes and I think they paired nicely together!

Good morning! It's the first day of summer break over at my house so I'm showing you what I currently have on my nails. I was looking for some nail art inspiration so I did a general search for the term "nail art" on pinterest and guess what? CHEVRONS were dominating the page. It must be the current trend so I figured I would give it a go.

Simple Friday Skittlette!

TGIF! Woohoo! It's time for the weekend and I can't wait! I'm still rocking my waterfall mani from yesterday's post so today is a mani I wore earlier this week. I hadn't done a skittlette in a while so I grabbed three of my favorite polishes: Elevation Polish Muztagh Ata, Elevation Polish Pata Puffer 2, and OPI My Current Crush! The glitter in Pata Puffer 2 complimented My Current Crush nicely and I was happy with this new-to-me color combo!

The Digit-al Dozen DOES Monochrome, Day 1: Turquoise Skittlette!

Good morning, readers! It's that time of the month again-- Digit-al Dozen nail art week!! Haha, did you think I meant something else? Anyway, the theme this week is "Monochrome" so each day all of the colors used in the mani will be from one color family. Today's post is a turquoise skittlette-- it's my favorite color family so of course I had to do it the first day!

Indigo Bananas Skittlette!

Press Sample

Good morning, readers! Today's post is one that I previewed on my instagram (@adventuresinacetone) last weekend, so come follow if you aren't already! I post manis on there that don't make it to this blog occasionally. This was the mani I wore the entire weekend with barely any tip wear and I loved it! The color combo was so fun and the blingy pinky accent nail sealed the deal.

The polishes used were all from Indigo Bananas and really gorgeous! Here are their descriptions straight from the Etsy Shop:

Immortal Game: "Immortal Game is a teal / aqua 'crelly' (pastel jelly / creme hybrid) packed with lavender-pink to gold duochrome glass fleck pigment of a very large particle size, so the shimmer is very obvious and strong. There is also subtle scattered purple flecks as well as a small amount of holographic microfine glitter in this - neither of which want to show up for the camera!"

Electric Unicorns: "Do androids dream of electric sheep? No. They dream of electric unicorns!
Electric Unicorns is a periwinkle blue (or a medium, blue leaning lavender) creme packed with pale green duochrome glass flecks that also shift a green blue, and a stronger blue at steeper angles. There is also a scattering of superfine pink shimmer, as well as small amounts of holographic silver shimmer - neither is super obvious, but gives this polish extra sparkle in the sun."

Moonlight (Clair de lune): "'Moonlight' (Clair de lune) is a super shiny, real silver flakie based polish that has purple, black and holographic microglitter in it - the effect is super silvery, metallic and smooth but with an interesting visual texture. Very chromelike indoors and very sparkly in the sun/outdoors. (Part of a duo set with "Earthshine (clair de terre)", a set inspired by Offenbach's opere 'Le voyage dans la lune' which is in turn based on Jules Vernes' 'From the Earth the Moon'.) "

I've done 2 coats of Immortal Game above, stamped with Bundle Monster BM-411 and Pure Ice Silver Star, and used a detail brush and Moonlight to add extra sparkle to the hearts in the stamp design. Topped with one coat of HK Girl top coat. Immortal Game applied easily and the duochrome flecks are really apparent in this macro! Absolutely love it!

I've done 2 coats of Electric Unicorns above, with HK Girl top coat. It applied easily and the shimmer is a gorgeous color combo!

Above, I have 4 coats of Moonlight (Clair de lune). I almost stopped at 3 because it seemed like enough coverage but added a 4th for good measure. I can't get over how amazing this polish is, so blingy and in the sun you can see holo micro shimmer as well! LOVE LOVE LOVE

The bottles together are gorgeous as well!

You can purchase Indigo Bananas polishes at the shop link below. They retail from $5.75 to $14.50 depending on the polish bottle size and ingredients.

Maya Cosmetics Fall Polishes + SALE!

Press Release

Good morning, readers! I'm interrupting our normal schedule of nail art to bring you some swatches (and a skittlette, that counts as a nail art post right?) of three new Maya Cosmetics polishes being released tomorrow! I didn't want to wait any longer to share these so you don't miss out on the SALE!

There are 5 new core colors, 2 One Batch Wonders (there are literally only one batch of each so grab them as soon as they are live or you will miss out), and a quick dry top coat!

I have 3 of the new colors, one being a One Batch Wonder, and the top coat to review for you today.

Let's start out with a skittlette I did using two of the new polishes: Stargazing and Hematite.

Stargazing is a deep blue jelly with silver micro glitter. Reminiscent of the night sky, this jelly polish is gorgeous! I've done two coats below with 1 coat of the new Maya Cosmetics Topcoat. It applied easily and had great coverage. The glitters suspend well in the jelly base and it has so much depth! I love it!

Hematite is one of the One Batch Wonders. It is a dark gray metallic(sort of) polish. I'm showing only ONE COAT on my pinky and thumb. It applied easily and covered so well! I even stamped with it over Stargazing on my index and middle fingers! It's a subtle effect over the dark blue but that's my color combo choice, not anything reflected on it's stamping abilities. I'm showing it with one coat of Maya Cosmetics Topcoat below as well.

The stamped nails also got a coat of the new Maya Cosmetics Topcoat and it didn't smear the stamping at all! Woohoo! When trying a new top coat over nail art for the first time, it's a stressful situation. You don't know yet if it will drag through your design or float on top like this one did. It dries quickly, not as quickly as Seche Vite, but I didn't mess up my mani after applying it and that's saying something for me!

The third new polish I have to show you is called Glitter Is The New Black! Such a cute name, and a really pretty polish. It is a black base with black, silver, pink, orange, silver holo, and purple holo micro glitters. I'm showing two coats below and it was a gritty finish so I did two coats of Maya Cosmetics Topcoat. You could probably skip the top coat and wear it as almost a textured polish, actually, but I wanted to get that high shine to see those glitters sparkle! I can't wait to wear this as an accent nail for some halloween mani ideas!

What do you think of these new polishes by Maya Cosmetics? They release tomorrow at 2pm EDT and there is a sale running from September 27-30th for 25% off your entire purchase! The code for the sale is FALLSPECIAL.

The normal prices for the polishes are $9.50 and $4 for the topcoat, so this is a great time to try out or stock up on some new favorites!

Also, she is discontinuing some older polishes and they are on clearance to $6.50 before the sale, and the sale code will apply to them as well!

ONE MORE exciting thing to add, the Smoothing Topcoat is coming back! It is my favorite for smoothing out gritty glitters and I am so happy to see it coming back. It is also normally priced for $4 a bottle. (I recommend applying one coat of Smoothing top coat over top coat hungry glitters and then applying one coat of the quick drying Topcoat).

Don't forget that Hematite is a One Batch Wonder and you won't be able to get it once it sells out so grab it quickly!

Which is your favorite of the new polishes? You can find swatches of the entire collection over at Things I Love At The Moment!

Red Dog Designs The Butterly Effect + Nail Art

Press Release

Good morning, readers! I am very excited to show you today's skittlette manicure. I was sent this gorgeous polish by Red Dog Designs called The Butterfly Effect and knew I'd have to do a full manicure with it and wear it for a few days!

The Butterfly Effect is a holo shimmer clear base glitter topper with pink, purple, and silver holo BUTTERFLY SHAPED GLITTER (!!) mixed with aqua, green, and purple hexes as well as some square iridescent blue glitters. It is absolutely gorgeous! It applied easily and I only had to fish out a few of the butterflies you can see in this mani because I was using a mini bottle. Below is two coats with top coat over a gradient of Milani Purple Martin and Fast Fuchsia.

My accent nails are a base of RBL Aqua Lily, outlined in Milani Purple Martin. I've done some simple butterfly nail art on those nails with Fast Fuchsia and Pure Ice Silver Star.

What do you think of this skittlette? I loved wearing it! It was my first mani with my newly rounded nails and I loved how the outlined nails looked with rounded tips!

This polish is not yet released by Red Dog Designs but it should be soon, so make sure you like the Red Dog Designs Facebook page below to get the latest info on new releases! Thanks for reading!

AquaDaisy Shazaam and Raspberry Beret Mani!

Good morning, readers! I'm almost through all of my old manis that I had photographed but not posted on. You may have seen this mani on instagram a few weeks ago!

After hearing such amazing things about AquaDaisy Shazaam (I used it in yesterday's mani post as well so check that out if you missed it!), I decided to take the plunge and order it for myself. While I was at her Etsy Shop, I came across Raspberry Beret and bought that one as well! I thought they would look nice together, and I was right!

Both are holographic and have amazing coverage. I've done 2 coats of each and then stamped with Shazaam over Raspberry Beret on my accent nails. The stamp design gives the look of a needle marble but was much easier! (My plate is a knock off of Konad m78)

Skittlette: Muztagh Ata, Shazaam, and Cheetah Print!

Hello, readers! Have you noticed lately how addicted I am to skittlettes? I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to wear nails that are the same without looking at them like they are missing something. It is also a great way to get through my untrieds! I'm finding so many gorgeous polishes that have been sitting around wanting to have a turn being used.

Today's skittlette features two untrieds: Elevation Polish Muztagh Ata, and AquaDaisy Shazaam! Both are holos and are a gorgeous pairing! Shazaam is a one coater, although I've done 2 here out of habit.

Muztagh Ata has just now popped up to the number ONE slot in my collection of Elevation Polishes. I CANNOT TELL YOU ENOUGH ABOUT HOW AMAZING the formula was on this. It's super pigmented and almost a one coater AS WELL AS squishy and holo with so much depth. It dries super duper shiny on it's own so you don't need top coat unless you are like me and use top coat to seal in the polish as well as help it dry quicker. But it also dries really quickly on it's own! If you only ever buy one Elevation Polish, THIS is IT. (And no, I wasn't even sent this to review. I bought it with my own money and am still kicking myself for taking this long to add it to my collection!)

I've done a gradient with both Shazaam and Muztagh Ata on my index and middle fingers and free handed some cheetah print with Milani Silver Stilettos and a dotting tool.

What do you think of this mani? Do you have either of these polishes? Thanks for reading!

Mommy's NOTD: Elevation Polishes Galore!

Echinops was
as a Press Sample.

Hello, readers! I have a quick post for you today. I wanted to show you what I just put on for my mani. I'm slowly trying to get through my untried polishes and Elevation Polish Azure Caverns has been staring me in the face for a few weeks and I couldn't decide what to pair it with until now. Echinops was a pretty base for Lake Achit and I think they complimented Azure Caverns nicely!

  • My index and middle fingers are 2 coats of Echinops topped with 2 coats of Lake Achit.
  • My ring and pinky fingers are 2 coats of Azure Caverns.
  • All are topped with 2 coats of top coat for a shiny finish.
