OPI Nordic Water Spotted Nail Art!

Good morning, readers! I have some funky nail art today to share with you. After seeing this gorgeous mani from Nicole at Nail Polish Wars last week, I've been dying to do another water spotted look. Mine turned out quite different, but I still always love the randomness of using this technique.

  • I started with 2 coats of OPI My Dogsled Is A Hybrid from the OPI Nordic Collection.
  • Then, I dropped a few drops of OPI How Great Is Your Dane into my water cup and sprayed it with hair spray.
  • I dipped my nail, cleaned the surface of the water with a toothpick, and pulled my finger out.
  • Next, I repeated the process with OPI Push And Shove to get the molten metal effect. I did this one finger at a time, so it was time consuming-- but easy.
  • To help with the huge amount of cleanup, I finally got to try Liquid Palisade. I painted it around my nail onto the cuticles and skin that I expected to get dipped into the polish water cup. I was able to peel it up in one stretchy piece when I was ready for clean up. It cut down my cleanup time tremendously!
  • Finally, I topped it all off with one coat of HK Girl Top Coat.

What do you think? It's definitely funky but I love having odd nail art. Thanks so much for reading!

  3. This is absolutely and incredibly stunning! I love the colors and the artistic painterly look of it! I've wanted to try water spotted nails but I always read to use sanitizer spray, and the one I have is scented and after a few squirts became too overwhelming, so I never bothered. I'll have to try hairspray then!
