Comparison: OPI Is Mai Tai Crooked vs. OPI Where Did Suzi's Man-go?

Previous
Press Samples

Good afternoon! I have a comparison for you today. When I was trying out the new OPI Hawaii Collection, I knew right away that Is Mai Tai Crooked? would be one of my favorites. When I put it on the rack next to my other OPI oranges, I realized it seemed very similar to last year's OPI Brazil color called Where Did Suzi's Man-go?  Let's see how they compare below.

This or That? OPI vs. Nicole by OPI Coca-Cola!

Press Samples

Good morning, readers! It's Saint Patrick's Day, but I don't have green nails. I showed last night on Instagram that I am doing a wear test for the OPI Infinite Shine polishes so check out my Facebook Page today for some throwbacks to older St. Patty's Day nails.

Last spring, OPI released their Coca-Cola Collection. It consisted of 9 soda-inspired shades and you can see my review post here. This spring, they've released a new Coca-Cola Collection under the Nicole by OPI brand. There are 6 soda-inspired shades (no polishes for Vanilla Coke and Cherry Coke this time) and I'll have that full swatch post up this weekend.

In the mean time, I thought it would be interesting to compare the 6 Nicole by OPI shades with their OPI counterparts. (I've obviously excluded the 3 OPI polishes that don't have counterparts in the Nicole by OPI Collection.) Let's take a look!

DIY Dupe: Elevation Polish Angels Are The Yetis Of The Clouds!

Good morning, readers! I have exciting news to share with you! I've done some comparisons and layering experiments and I've figured out a DIY dupe for recreating a similar look to the very limited edition Elevation Polish Angels Are The Yetis Of The Clouds!! I know it's not the same as owning this gorgeous polish, but its a bit of a consolation prize if you can create a close enough look, right? Continue reading to see how I did it, and how it compared to some other polishes in my stash!

Bright Coral Comparison Post!

Previous
Press Samples

Confession time: I love coral polish. Way back before I was into doing my own nails, I would almost always pick an OPI coral polish when I would go for pedicures at the salon with my Mom. Although my blog has opened me up to other color families that get most of my attention(teals and violets, I'm looking at you!), I still love wearing coral on my toes. Sure, I wear it on my finger nails, too, but nothing says summer pedi to me like a bright coral. I even have a bright coral pedi right now!

A few nail polish friends asked me to do a comparison of some of the more recent corals that I've reviewed so here is a comparison in case you can't decide which to buy. The pictures are labeled and I'm showing three coats of each polish: OPI Down To The Core-al (from the Neons Collection), KBShimmer You're So Shellfish (from the Summer Collection), OPI Toucan Do It If You Try (From the Brazil Collection), and OPI Live.Love.Carnaval. (also from the Brazil Collection.)

Swatch Saturday: Elevation Polish Arabian Sea and Malaspina Glacier + Comparison!

Good morning, readers! Happy Saturday! It's pouring here, but maybe that's not such a bad thing. I'm sure we will still find something fun to do.

I'm going through old pictures that I haven't posted on yet and I found these 2 "similar" polishes by Elevation Polish. So I'm going to post my swatch photos as well as a few nail wheel comparisons of them side by side at the bottom of this post to show how different they really are.

Arabian Sea was a Small Batch Prototype(SBP) in August and I still can't believe I was able to get one before they were gone! I love it so much, the brightness, the flakes, the color. Showing 2 coats below with top coat.

I adore the different colored flakes!

Malaspina Glacier is a Llarowe Exclusive and you can still buy it HERE! It has flakes and an amazing shimmer! It's not as bright as Arabian Sea but is still a really gorgeous shade. I'm showing 2 coats with top coat below.

That shimmer!!!

Here are some side by side shots to help show the differences between them (I've labeled each swatch)

As you can see, they are similar and yet very different. Which is your favorite? I love them both but cherish my Arabian Sea more because it was hard to get. Also, the color is one of my favorites and I could wear it every day for the rest of my life. ha!

Thanks so much for reading! Have a great weekend!

Elevation Polish Comparison Post: 4 Sea Glass Polishes!

Good morning, readers! It's restock day for Elevation Polish fans! I have a comparison post for you today with 4 similar Elevations that I have in my stash!

1 is a Llarowe Exclusive so you will have to go there to grab one, 1 is part of last month's Small Batch Prototypes so you won't be able to grab that one either, but the other 2 are available at the restock!

Malaspina Glacier is the brightest of all 4, a Llarowe exclusive, and has tons of aqua shimmer and navy flakes. This has jumped up to the top 5 Elevations in my collection.

Cotopaxi was from last month's SBPs and I'm so happy to have it! It has different sized and colored gray glitters.

Dyhk-Tau is part of the Geo Duo and has some teal and holo shimmer in it. Gorgeous!

Jengish Chokusu is now part of the core line. It is a gorgeous sea glass creme!

All photos below are 2 coats with top coat.

What do you think? I'm glad they are different enough for me to own them all. BUY ALL THE ELEVATIONS! Haha, but really, I hope this is helpful. Thanks for reading!

Good luck on tonight's restock. 10pm EST at http://elevationpolish.bigcartel.com

Blue Creme Comparison!

*The Milani in this
post was previously
sent  as a
Press Sample.

Hello, readers! I have a comparison post for you today. If you read my review of the new Milani Fantastical Plumage Collection, you will remember that I said that Peacock reminded me of other polishes I had and a comparison would be coming. Well, here it is!

These are all from recent collections. I see this happen so often!

OPI Can't Find My Czechbook, Zoya Rocky, Milani Peacock, and Sinful Shine At Sea.

Here are my comparison photos. All are 2 coats with no top coat. There may be the slightest bit of difference but nothing I could see in person.  I've already passed 2 of these along to other nail polish lovers. No need to keep them all!

Basically, they all look the same to me. If you want to go with the best bargain, Sinful Shine is your winner.

Retail prices for these:
$9 OPI Can't Find My Czechbook
$8 Zoya Rocky
$4.49 Milani Peacock
$2.99 Sinful Shine At Sea

Do you have any of these? Thanks so much for reading!

Deborah Lippmann Razzle Dazzle Comparison Post!

Hello readers! My post is super late for the day because it has been a crazy one! I've had these pictures since I took them this morning but this is the first time I've had to sit at the computer and write up for you.

In my previous post, I mentioned that I thought Shimmer Marilyn was similar, yet more red toned, to Deborah Lippmann Razzle Dazzle. I got to swatch them side by side and I was right! Both needed 3 coats and a good top coat because they dried gritty. Both have the glowy glitter but the tones are different.

Which color do you prefer? Thanks for reading!

Green Comparison Post!

Hello readers! I have another easy comparison post for you! I recently was able to get the gorgeous Essie Mojito Madness from my dear friend Jen at My Polish Obsession. I thought I would compare it to some others to see how close it came to others in my stash!

Julep Leah, Essie Mojito Madness, Illamasqua Noble

2 coats of each

As you can see, Julep Leah is pretty close but has added shimmer. Illamasqua Nomad looked more similar in the bottle but definitely not on the nail. Yay!

Do you have any of these? Thanks for reading!

Periwinkle Comparison Post

Hi readers! I've recently acquired some new polishes and after seeing them in person, I thought they looked similar to others in my stash. I've got 3 comparison posts planned to show you in the next week. Hopefully they will be helpful for you!

Today's comparison post is on periwinkles. I was wondering how close Butter London Sprog was to China Glaze Secret Peri-wink-le before I got it in a swap and it turns out they are pretty close. I also recently got Zoya Jo and Illamasqua Cameo so I threw those into the comparison as well!

Butter London Sprog and Illamasqua Cameo are 2 coats, China Glaze Secret Peri-wink-le and Zoya Jo are 3 coats, no top coat. As you can see, Sprog and Secret Peri-wink-le are very close, with Sprog a hair lighter. Sprog had a much better formula(and should, for the price being about double the China Glaze) out of the two. I like that Zoya Jo fits well with the first two, but the added shimmer sets it apart. Cameo is obviously too dark and bluer but I wanted to add it in because it is a new Sephora exclusive that is described online as a periwinkle and maybe this will help anyone deciding to buy it.

I love periwinkle colors! I can probably do without the China Glaze now, though. Thanks for reading!
